  • Well I was going to come and say 'yes, I believe that' but I see I've already been dobbed in LOL I also believe it can happen that we can get cravings for things we haven't eaten in ages when 'that portion of fat' is released by the body. As if your body is picking up what that fat was stored from - minute chemical traces?…
  • I'm May, 58 years old (not for much longer), wonderful husband of 40 years (marriage, not his age), sons 35 and 32, grandchildren Georgia 9, Andrew 7, Emma 5. I was English born, but have lived in Perth, Australia since I was 15. I was last naturally slim when I was 11 years old and have been on some **crazy** diets in my…
  • Hello Beautiful Ladies! I hope your weekend is off to a happy start? To answer everyone about my nails – thank you for the compliments, and yes, they are my own. I have always had fairly strong nails and they seem to be even stronger these days. Using a good cuticle cream regularly helps. I usually cut them down a little…
  • Cakes, icing (frosting), biscuits (cookies), bread, jam (jelly), cows milk - all the things I was *totally* addicted to are all completely disgusting now. All of the flour products taste like cardboard to me, and the sweet things are just totally unpalatable in ways I can't describe. The thought of cows milk makes my…
  • That's fantastic. So good to know that customer service (and care!) is not dead.
  • Wow, so many new folks. Welcome to you all, it's so lovely here and everyone is super helpful.
  • I just went to the shops today and bought a bottle that says 'Stress and Anxiety'. It contains 187.5 mg Rhodiola, 300 mg Whithania (Ashwagandha), 20 mg Sacred Basil, 150 mg Siberian Ginseng, 214.20 mg Lemon Balm. The naturopath asked what it was for (so that she could advise me) and I said anxiety *and* post menopausal…
  • Some of it is genetic too. When I was first born, my skinny grandma apparently said "Oh. She has washer-woman arms like her other grandma!" I've had hanging skin under my upper arms longer than I can remember, regardless of my size.
  • Oh yes, I should have thought to mention that and yes, I use grams. Whoever heard of using mls to measure dry ingredients? Maybe it's a South African thing?
  • This is the bread that we make all the time for my husband to take to work for his meal break. He also takes cheese portions, small tins of tuna, pepperoni, boiled eggs and things like that to go with it. talkfeed.co.za/lchf-bread-recipe/
  • Hi Karlotta and everyone. Indeed the honeymoon is over, but he gave me a lovely massage today before he went off to work. We bought a massage table really cheaply on eBay a few years ago and David did a brief, one-day course on massage, but he's a natural anyway. I'm very fortunate. We love our lifestyle where we have the…
  • Here's my LCHF YouTube playlist https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVauMCMlEJzyjRWgJ8Fo5Fw6hs8zQsEoz You have a couple of the videos already but there's more that I think worthy of keeping (obviously).
  • Apparently it was amazing lemon icing and the actual birthday girl was in raptures over it, and everyone else agreeing loudly. They needn't have said anything so it wasn't that they were in a forced position to make agreeing noises. So yes, it's me that's changed. In future (this is a monthly event) I'll bring the cupcake…
  • Thank you @Yarwell My brain was coming up with a blank. Had rather a lot on my mind lately in other parts of my life. Thanks @Olivia I really appreciate the encouragement. I had 2 'new lows' in a row, but up a little today. And that's fine because at last I'm seeing a steady (even though it's slow) downward trend. That's…
  • Welcome @winninglosing43 If you struggle, you're welcome here. I was set at <15g carbs, around 110g fat and around 70g protein per day and truly struggled to lose. I'm allowing more carbs on days where that's needed and seem to be losing more steadily now. I don't *aim* for higher carbs, but I don't watch every gram to…
  • On the cortisol front, I didn't take valerian yesterday, but had taken 2 the day before; one morning and one night. Back to one again today. My weight is still mostly heading downwards with a new lowest weight yesterday and again this morning despite having an iced cupcake yesterday due to circumstances beyond my control…
  • I eventually discovered this one for myself some years ago and it made a huge difference to me too. I was pulling my head backwards because my neck and shoulders were so tense. Tucking your chin a little and consciously relaxing neck and shoulders before sleep is incredible. Oh wow, that is pure gold for me even on the…
  • Q. So a poll of sorts: do you consider keto fringe or mainstream? A. Fringe, but I enjoy that. I enjoyed it when I was a poor excuse for a raw vegan too. Q. And how about LC in general? I'm starting to see posts entitled "The Wall is Coming Down!" making the analogy that the old low-fat dietary guidelines are crumbling…
  • Ha! Fantastic!!! What an awesome gift.
  • I've definitely proven the sleep connection myself many times. Given less than 7 hours sleep my weight stabilises or gains. Then a nice lie in will produce a loss almost every time (all else being equal).
  • Thank you @Ellen and @wabmester those are really helpful and interesting. Some of the oldies are still goodies that's for sure - 1967. I don't suppose we'll ever know all of the interactions happening in our bodies or all of the reasons for them. @dashriver I'm really glad this thread has helped you, and that you slept…
  • Oh Ellen, my fingers and toes are so crossed for you that the pound lost is the beginning of many more to come! And please let us know what you find about the supplements. I sure hope you enjoy/ed that link now. I just found it lovey.
  • Oh wow. I read through the poster, liking what I read, and then saw myfitnesspal on the bottom and my eyes widened with surprise. Awesome!

  • @Rebecca Wow! It’s so good to have you back, and your amazingly positive outlook too <3 I hope the cruise was truly awesome and I’m so sorry about everything that you came back to. Truly hope everything works out for you quickly and that life can become the ‘wonderful boring’ that I appreciate every day that gift is given…
  • Oh Karlotta, that's the most amazing and fantastic news for you - and all of us here who are rejoicing with you!!! <3
  • Thank you @Knit and @Gale I knew I should know the answer, but there were no brain minions working at the time of that post ;) And @Gale I love your new avatar, it's really nice to see you.
  • Where is the glucose coming from though if I've been below 50 grams of carbs every day (except one) since 23rd January this year? I was below 15 grams for most of it, but increased to an average of maybe 25 grams the past few weeks. The answer's probably obvious, but not to me right now. Or is my body making glucose from…
  • @Kitn LOL at the honeymoon sleeping. You could be right ;) I really hope that you get caught up easily at work. It really sucks that nobody fills in for you when you have time off. @Jane I’m so very, very sorry to hear of your husband’s family news. That would be a lot to take for anyone and I truly hope it doesn’t impact…
  • Garcinia cambogia is supposed to 'eat away' the fat you consume in your diet. They are working on the supposition that dietary fat is a bad thing, but we know different. You *want* your dietary fat, that's the whole point of LCHF.
  • Thanks @wabmester, I was hoping you'd still be reading the thread. Today's reading is 0.3 despite only 20C 117F and 73P yesterday and a 'flexible rating' of 1.88. My readings are always done first thing in the morning before anything passes my lips. But thank you. I had read and forgotten about low ketones meaning that I'm…
