I'm the main grocery shopper in my house so I just quit buying all that junk. When I do buy junk for the rest of the family, I make sure to buy stuff that I don't like, so I'm not tempted. Occasionally, when I want a treat, I'll buy what I like but with just enough servings so everyone gets 1, so there's no leftovers to…

Mine, too! It's so much easier to sleep now, for me and my husband. Some nights it was so bad he'd go sleep on the couch. It's only crept back a couple of times in the last year, and only when I was WAY under on my steps for the day (like if I was stuck in the car all day and never got any exercise in).

I feel for you. Years ago, a friend of my husband's came over. I'd only met him a few times before and this was the first time he'd visited our home. He walked in and said, "Dang, girl, you got FAT!" Granted, I had gotten fat (4 kids in 6 years and 50 pounds gained with each pregnancy). Still, I did not expect a guest to…

When I started out, my goal was 10,000 per day. I finally started averaging 12,000 - 14,000, so 10,000 wasn't a challenge anymore. Now my daily goal is 15,000 per day. It took me a long time to finally break my 26,000 high (about 4 months). Good luck on breaking your new high.

I finally broke my previous high steps for the day: Old high: 26,000 steps Yesterday: 40,000 steps I took my daughter to the Vans Warped Tour. We got through the gates at 9:30 AM and the last band played at 8:30 PM. I had absolutely nothing to do for all of those hours. I decided to walk and decided that it was time to…

I'm not a gamer but this game made my 14-year-old finally come out of her room to see the light of day. AND she went out to the barn and dragged out her bike and has gone for several bike rides over the last two days. AND she actually wanted to go for a walk with the rest of the family last night. It's like a stranger has…

Last night I was out for a walk with my daughter and did a little jogging. I apologized to her for being so slow, and she said, "You're not slow, you have to quit telling yourself that." I said back to her that I was indeed very slow (I really am). She said to me, "You're not slow (...pause...) for someone that's had four…

I hope you enjoy every bite!

Thanks. It still makes me grin every time I think about it. :) But, real runners would laugh at a 36-minute 5K. Next year, my goal is to make it in 30 minutes or less. It won't be the same daughter. She aged out this year. It will be my youngest, who wanted to do it with us this year, but was too young.

Last Sunday my daughter and I finished our second 5K for Girls on the Run. Last year, it took me 57 minutes. This year, my goal was (1) to actually run the whole thing and (2) to do it in 40 minutes or less. We crossed the finish line in 36 minutes!! I know it's not really that fast, but I was so proud of us!

Last night I was sitting on the couch next to my husband and he looked at me and said, "You look so tiny sitting there." Me, tiny, ha!! Also, I went for a walk with my 7-year-old and we jogged for a little while. She kept saying to me "How do you do it? How do you do it?" while trying to keep up. She can still run faster,…

Sorry for the late response, everybody, I just got back from vacation and didn't check the forums while I was away. Internet too slow... Anyway, to psulemon and itsbasschick, he hasn't been checked since losing the weight. His doctor has been on maternity leave. He still takes his blood pressure medication and says he can…

I looked at the dessert menu and then said no. I told the kids the next time we'd come and just order dessert. They have dessert "minis" which are actually a nice portion without overwhelming calories. I don't know why they're called "minis," because they're not that small. Though maybe the old me would have been…

Today I took the kids to a restaurant for lunch and ordered fish -n- chips (which are actually fries here in the States). I substituted steamed broccoli for the fries and applesauce for the coleslaw and was perfectly satisfied. I have hope that I can start eating out again and still stay within my calories!!

I don't know if dieticians are covered by our insurance, but I can find out. That's a good idea. His doctor is currently on maternity leave, so it may be awhile before we can get a referral, if it is covered.

His doctor barely gave him any information to go on, other than telling him to lose weight. I think he came home with a one or two-page printout on how to eat healthy. I've done all of the research on what he should/shouldn't be eating and tried to adjust his diet based on my research. Which is how I found out that…

This morning my 11-year-old picked out a skirt to wear to school but didn't have any tights that matched. I told her to go grab a pair of mine to wear. On the outside, I was like, "Just go grab mine," but on the inside I was capering with glee and thinking "I can't believe I just told my 11-year-old she could borrow a pair…

I hope you took the opportunity to tell your husband how good he's looking? Mu husband has also been looking exceptionally sexy lately, which I let him know after I got home from work last night and all the kids were asleep.

LOL. I was reading this thread while eating fig newtons. I wasn't going to admit it until I saw your post.

Walking is so much more fun with a dog. Watch out, though, he'll start expecting those walks. Every time my dog sees me putting my coat on, she gets excited and runs to the door, hoping for a walk.

I lost 76 lbs using my analog scale. It has ounces on one side (1 ounce increments) and grams on the other (not quite sure of the increments, but it's only possible to be accurate to about the closest 25 grams). I sometimes wish that I had a nice digital scale, but it hasn't been necessary for my weight loss. I kept…

This! I was just telling my husband that I think I'm fitter now than I was when I was 20. I was always thin, but didn't exercise, didn't like sports, never stepped foot in a gym until this year. Now I love exercising, and get very grouchy when I miss a day. I can't imagine ever going back to what I was before!

I'm getting a treadmill on Thursday, from my mom, who just got it back from my sister. I can' t wait!! My youngest asked when we're getting "that think you can run on and can set the speed" (translation: treadmill). I may have to fight her for it.

Mine love going to the gym with me, too, but only the oldest is allowed to use the equipment. The others go to the play room. They're always all sweaty when I go to get them, so I know they're getting exercise even without the equipment. Saves a lot of time being able to work out at home, though.
-
I love it, so far, too. Did 50 yesterday. You can definitely feel it. I paid more than $1, though :) . $20 off craigslist. My thighs are my least favorite body part, because they've always been very flabby. I got the elliptical (is that what that thing is called?) for $20 off craigslist, too. My oldest (14) was excited to…

My husband decided to set up a small exercise space in our basement for me, so I don't have to spend so much time at the gym (40 minute drive round-trip). We got the first few pieces of equipment moved in, and a television (you can't see it in the pic). THIS is what happened. Yes, we have a living room with a television,…

This is awesome, too! I especially liked how you're inspiring your children with your example.
-
That's so awesome!! You have to let us know if they actually save you a seat.

LOL. The same thing happened to my and my daughter this morning. We were sitting in a recliner together and suddenly I realized that we weren't even touching each other. She used to have to site partially on top of me because there wasn't enough room in the chair otherwise. I pointed out how much room we had and she said…

This morning my husband kept following me around the kitchen saying how good I looked. Then he made a comment about how two of his friends "can't get a girl between the two of them" and how he's sitting at home with such a pretty wife. It made my day. He's also been much more physically affectionate lately >:) . Also, he…
