Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

Haha that would be a dream come true! I am young (22), so I have age on my side.

I think you're right...I have a couple of small scars on my stomach already from a surgery 4 years ago, and I don't feel as though they have any impact on my happiness. I also knew a girl in high school who had open heart surgery as a baby, and she had a large scar running down her chest, but I never thought she was…

Thanks! So happy to finally contribute!

They're supposed to be full of antioxidants or something, but the main reason I tried them out is that they make you feel more full because they expand in reaction to water, kind of like rice. I sometimes make overnight oats with them, but I didn't find them impressive enough to use on a regular basis.

I was trying so hard to read through this entire thread before posting one of my own confessions, but after about a month of attempting to catch up, I finally give up! Confession #1: When I found out about the loose skin problems associated with extreme weight loss, I stopped working out and trying to lose weight (after…

I felt kind of stressed about this too, because most of the sushi restaurants I go to aren't chains, and don't have nutritional info listed. I found an article via Pinterest that helps, though. It obviously can't account for variations between restaurants, but it tells you which kinds of sushi in general are lower in…

When I was a kid and didn't like fish, my dad used to make crab cake mix, but instead of baking the crab cakes on their own, he would put a pile of the mix on top of a piece of salmon, and then baked it as he normally would. It was amazing! Of course, I grew up in Maryland, so I might be overly obsessed with crab to begin…

A ham, egg, and cheese sandwich with 2oz ham, .5oz shredded mozzarella, 1 egg, and 2 slices light style wheat bread. Or, if I'm very hungry, a wafflewich with 1 tbsp plain cream cheese and 75g sliced strawberries with a side of edamame. Yummy!

Well, I don't have 200 to lose, but I've lost 65 so far, and I still have about 80 to go! (145 total) Feel free to add me :)

AGREED.

Case in point: my neighbor came over yesterday to tell me how skinny she thought I looked, and even though I smiled and thanked her, in my head I was screaming "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!? I've looked in the mirror at LEAST 5 times today and my a** is still the size of a gazebo!"

Hahaha soooo funny! And, at least in my case, often true!

5'7" here! Age: 22 SW: 284 CW: 220 GW: 140-150 Sorry the before pics are so blurry! Tbh it was hard to find any pics from that time because I was too embarrassed to have my picture taken.

I really don't think it matters if healthy eating, portion control, or CICO is taught in schools. I was taught the merits of "healthy" eating often enough. It was taught to me for 3 years of health class, 2 years of home economics, and 8 years of physical education. These lessons were not enough to overcome what I learned…

I made morning glory muffins yesterday...they have carrots, banana, raisins, and oats, so that gives you a pretty nutrient dense muffin. I used this recipe, and substituted regular flour for whole wheat flour: http://www.marthastewart.com/339779/healthy-morning-muffins They ended up being about 177 calories each. Next time…

This happens every time I create a new recipe. However, I found that if I go back to the recipe and edit it (but with the same ingredients, just deleting and re-adding), it gets fixed. Just click "edit recipe," click on one of the ingredients and click on the little checkmark in he top corner to verify the ingredient,…

I have wondered about this too! Until recently, as an adult, I had never weighed less than 230lbs. I am 5'7", 22 years old, and weighed about 160lbs by age 10 and 215lbs by age 13...so I really have NO frame of reference of what is a good weight for me, personally. After a high of 281lbs 3 years ago, I have s-l-o-w-l-y…

Marinating it in teriyaki sauce does WONDERS. Seriously, I love salmon anyways, but if you get the right marinade you can barely even taste the fish. If she ever does decide she likes it, it is also excellent cooked in the oven with some garlic powder, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika :)

Wow, lots of rude people on here...obviously the OP didn't intend to insult anyone, so perhaps everyone should chill out? Anyways, OP, I'm not exactly a clean eater, but I do really try my hardest to not eat processed stuff/fast food, and I often make my own (healthier?) versions of things...haha homemade chocolate may not…

I have never tried this diet...however, I do eat Special K for breakfast every morning. It may be high in carbs, but it's also high in iron, which I am severely lacking because I hate red meat :) (Not to mention that it's pretty darn low in calories!)
-
Wow! Your enthusiasm is so inspiring! I have a similar goal - 190 lbs (haha, this just happens to be the lie I told the DMV about my weight...). By the way, congratulations on finishing your dissertation! I am about to start law school in the fall, and I would love to hear more about how you managed weight loss with the…

I like to have Special K cereal! I know that cereal isn't exactly the best thing to eat (carbs and sugar, anyone?) but it's the only way I can reach my daily iron goal...plus, with skim milk it's only about 150 calories, and you get one full cup in a serving, unlike lots of other cereals! Some other things I like are: -…

Feel free to add me too! It's so great that you're taking a step forward - kudos for seeking out motivation!

Wow, there's some really awful stuff in here. OP, I really hope you're not with the guy who told you that he didn't find you attractive anymore. For me, the worst is something my dad says like a broken record: "When I was your age, I had a 28-inch waist, and your mother had a 23-inch waist, so clearly *this* (gestures at…

I have a similar problem. When I moved to Argentina a few years ago, I switched to an entirely different lifestyle. No processed junk food, no fast food, walking 4-5 miles each day (because I moved to a city), and greatly reducing my sugar and fat intake. It was AMAZING. In the first 4 months, I lost 30lbs. Then, I moved…

Hi! I'm also trying to lose quite a bit of weight! I've lost about 40lbs so far, but I would like to lose around 70 more. Please feel free to add me - I think a support group for this is a great idea, because we all have a very long way to go :)
-
I would love to be added to this group of you don't mind! I tried searching it, but nothing came up...

Feel free to add me! Honestly, I joined MFP because my family HATES to talk about weight loss or healthy eating or exercise, so I know how you feel :)
