My doctors cannot find the effective dosages of medication for me. But, I plug along with the calorie counting and exercise because they make me feel good and I know that once the proper dosage is reached, I will be able to lose weight. It is a lifestyle for me.

Thanks for having my back. To OP---Of course you have to restrict calories and work out. I do that. I am saying that you can take one person who is 5'7" and they will eat 1200 calories and plus work out and another person who is 5'7" and they will do the same exact thing and will lose more or less (or not at all) depending…

Quite possibly:p Actually though, with a 1200 cal a day intake and exercise burns up to 600 6 days a week...I am almost there. But, yes, this response shows your immaturity. I am happy for you and your successes....but you cannot say that everyone is the same. It is simply NOT truth.

I never respond on these threads much but I had to on this one..... Sorry OP, but you are wrong. Some people, myself included, have a much harder road..... I have to work out hard every day, eat a 1200 calorie diet to MAINTAIN.... I have Hashimoto's, hypothyroid and am insulin resistant. Until I get my levels optimized, I…

most of my workouts....I workout every day but only log a few days because if the calories are added to my day, and I see them...suddenly I become more hungry!

I have been doing this for 20 days.....lost 3 lbs quickly then was up 2, down 1, up .5, etc. Now i am weighing every week or two. BUT...I have lost 1.5 inches from my waist. Results are not just by the scale. Do not get discouraged. Just stick with it!!

I am 5" 6'. As far as a goal weight---I think it really depends on your build and muscle mass. I am shooting for 140-145. I was that a few years ago and I felt/looked good...was in a size 6. Now, I am 170, size 10.

I hardly track exercise at all because I don't want to eat back the calories, esp if they are inaccurate. Sometimes I go beyond calories a little but I definitely have it covered with the workouts. I am on Synthroid and it seems to be a good level. I am going to keep at it and hopefully will get some good slow results.

Thanks so much! I am going to keep doing what I am doing. In some ways, I understand what he is saying....it is hard to "break through" a certain weight..sometimes your body needs a shove. But he was making it so extreme. "Ain't no body got time for that!"

Yes...they do !

Good ideas! thank you!

He is an Iron Man...so he lacks some perspective. I think he is frustrated that I am frustrated. But I agree....he is wrong. That is why I wanted to see what others thought!

Thank you :)

Thank you all! I feel better about it. Slow and steady and hopefully....I will get there eventually. I am ok with the slow weight loss...I want something I can do for life.

thank you --this helps a lot!

Awesome...gives me hope!

Actually, he is the smartest person I know. Honestly. And..he is a doctor (but not in this field)

Yes, I have met with doctor, endo, nutritionist....and my husband is a doctor (but this is not his field!) I am going to press on and work on cutting out carbs more. (My downfall!) I usually can stay on target but it does get really frustrating to see nothing happening. This is why calorie restriction has failed for me in…

thanks...I will work on cutting the carbs more!

Yes---- I see an endocrinologist and have for the past 5 years. I have always been very fit and losing weight has been easy until two years after having my last child. No change in anything but weight crept up. It has been hard for me because I am used to being thinner. But, although it IS a lot harder to lose...I am…

Wow--fantastic. Congratulations!!

You look amazing. You should be so proud of your hard work! What an inspiration!

Hey everyone-Another hypo friend here. I am 41 and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's about 3 years ago. Always lost my baby weight pretty quickly, except after my last one. It is a lot harder to shed the pounds but I know it isn't impossible. Just started on MFP this week and hoping to feel a little bit better about myself by…
