Start at 4:30 AM in my home gym. As far as eating goes, depends on where my blood sugar is (I'm a T2 diabetic). If it's low, I have maybe 4 oz of orange juice. Otherwise, I exercise fasted. If I know I'm going to be doing a longer workout, like a long run, I'll have a protein bar or Kind bar.

I was diagnosed type 2 in 2003. I've gotten my numbers in control using a slow carb diet and exercise. I've managed to reduce, but not eliminate my meds. It's been a very long road with lots of trial and error. Just don't beat yourself up when you fall off the wagon. Get back on it again. You'll find what works for you…

I was at a relative's wake, noticed a family member I hadn't seen in a couple of years, nodded and waved to say hello. He gave me a strange look, then came over and introduced himself! I said, that's great "Bill" (name changed to protect the innocent), but I WAS IN YOUR WEDDING PARTY! His response was, "Holy **kitten**…

Hi Steve. I was diagnosed 15 years ago. I have managed to get good control of my A1c (5.8-6.2) over the last five years. While I'm not off medication like @jgnatca, I have greatly reduced them. What did I do? I used a combination of a slow carb diet and exercise to lose 55 lbs. I started with small changes and adjusted…

I tried it in Vietnam, first as candy, then the real thing. Candy was "bleh", but I could barely get the real thing to my mouth. Smells like raw sewerage. I spit it out after a couple of seconds. The natives laughed at me and said they thought it was sweet. I do think it's one of those acquired tastes you have to grow up…

OK, let me say up front that this approach will not work for everyone. Yes, we (my girlfriend and I) have been using a Cheat Day for two years. We eat whatever we want in whatever quantity we want for that day. Over that time, I lost 55 lbs and have stayed at maintenance for the last year. My girlfriend has lost 35 lbs and…

I'm 5' 10", 55 years old, and started at 221 a year ago. I followed a slow carb diet and lost 20 without even thinking about how many calories I was eating. I plateaued at 200, so started the 4 Hour Body. At this point, I'm 180 and eating about 1700 cals a day with exercise (elliptical for 30 minutes a day in my target…
