  • Hello!! Welcome to MFP, I started this at Christmas with about 90lbs to lose, I'm about halfway there now, so it does work if you stick with it!!! I found this thread to be an awesome help when I got started and I still refer to it: community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1296011/calorie-counting-101/p1 Its quite…
  • Well done!!! That moment when you do something that you didn't know your body would do is amazing  Enjoy the feeling and let it push you further!!
  • I hated the idea of logging calories at first for all the same reasons, and even after I started, I resisted getting a food scale for a while because I felt like this was going to take control of my life. But I found, once I gave it a chance, that these things were just tools to help ME gain control of my life. Once I…
  • I too have been wondering this! Going on a long trip at the end of the month, worried about all the bad plane food/bad airport food. The only thing I've really been able to think of so far is something pre-wrapped. I usually eat a Nature Valley Protein bar every day as a mini-meal as I find them a reasonable and tasty…
  • You've done such an amazing job! It's stories like this that keep me going on the rough days, so thank you!
  • WOW. I'm just going to say it, @angelfire287 .... I'm pretty jealous. You look amazing!! Well done
  • I know personal evidence is purely anecdotal, but if it helps, I actually found things easier after I increased my fat intake. Lots of avocados, nuts, coconut oil and cottage cheese means there are a lot of days where fats make up 35-40% of my intake. Going "into the red" on my fats doesn't bother me much, since I know…
  • I think you're incredibly brave! I don't think I could ever open myself up like this to the world and invite them on my journey. Subscribed to your channel, look forward to seeing more videos there
  • I know what you mean! Every time I congratulate myself, I also berate myself... but we have to stop it, positivity is the way we're going to get to our goals  WELL DONE!!!!
  • This is awesome! It's really cool to see someone else who is as much of a data freak as I am! My husband thinks I'm a bit nuts for weighting/logging every day and tells me I'll just "depress" myself, but I actually find it quite fascinating to watch how weight goes up and down - and educational. Now that I weigh every day,…

  • This is pretty much what I had in mind ! I just wanted to keep that metric handy as a sort of loose guideline. Thanks!
  • This was exactly what I was looking for, thanks :)
  • You look great  ! Funnily enough your numbers are pretty close to mine actually. I'm 5'4.5" (that half inch counts apparently), started at 240 at Christmas, just got down to 202, aiming for about 175. Not brave enough to post pictures yet, although intellectually I know I've lost a lot of weight - when I look in the…
  • When you post to a thread, it pushes it up and keeps it more "current". I think people post "bump" when they want to encourage the thread to stay active on the forums without necessarily typing out a whole long post. It took me a while to figure this out too  (although saying this, I could be wrong!)
  • Such a big difference. You look amazing  And very chic!

  • You really ARE amazing. And your butt does look great! *is jealous* Amazingly well done, you are definitely an inspiration to just keep at it
  • A lot of people will probably suggest this, but if you look at your calories for the whole week, you probably didn't make much of a dent in your overall weekly allowance. Weight loss happens over time and days like this happen. I wouldn't worry and just carry on as normal
  • After several months of moderation and healthier eating, I don't necessarily crave the bad stuff around my TOM anymore, but in the few days right before my period, I feel like I could eat the world. Literally, I have stood at the fridge with a big bag of spinach wondering if it would fill me up if I ate the whole thing.…

  • I always come back to this thread when I need inspiration and am feeling low. Amazing, amazing job to everyone on here!
  • Totally know the feeling. Lost a ton of weight about four years ago, then slowly started gaining it back until I ballooned last year. Determined that this time its coming off and staying off!!! Add me
  • Hey OP - I am relatively new, only doing this for a few months, but the best advice I can give (in addition to a lot of other sensible advice other people have posted) is to get a food scale! I had qualms about this (who knows why) but it really gives you back control over your diet once you know exactly how much you're…
  • Wonderful! Well done! Also, I think that giving Gertrude a stern talking to every day is a wonderful idea

  • You look phenomenal!!! Hope this isn't a weird question - but do you know what size frame you are (i.e. small, medium, large)? I only ask because you look quite similar to me! I'm currently focusing on getting down to about 170 (currently 208, down from 240).
  • I have been on 1200 (+eating back 100-200 calories on exercise days) for about a month and a half, have lost an average of 2.65lbs a week (some weeks higher some weeks lower). Bear in mind though that I have a LOT of weight left to lose, I imagine this rate is not typical the further down you get in weight/closer you get…
  • This all sounds so familiar - I was in the same boat for years! I was also resistant to getting a food scale (surely that's over-obsessing/my husband will think I'm nuts/what if the scale tells me I can't eat as much as I think?) but I have to tell you, it was the best thing I ever did. It helped me take true control of my…
