I was less thinking "boss" and more thinking "demon."

What she's saying is that the depo itself did not cause the gain. The relationship is indirect: depo can cause increase in appetite which causes one to overeat. The overeating is not the fault of the medication but rather the person who didn't control the appetite.

CICO = calories in/calories out, or the basic equation for losing weight.

Where did you get hyper/hypoglycemic from? I was referring to the shock syndrome that you would have incurred from losing that much fluid in your body that rapidly, or hypovolemia. I'm glad it's working for you because I can't imagine the lasting damage that left on your body. That aside, CICO still works. If you don't…

YES. (For me). We talk about this at work a lot. When patient caseload is high and I have back to back appointments all day, I am more productive and get more done- and then go home at the end of the day and cook dinner and work out. When caseload is low and I work half days from home, NOTHING gets done. Netflix happens…

It's clear that this episode of hypovolemic shock was very impactful on your life. You lost a lot of weight. Can you point to an instance when bringing this up has made a meaningful change in someone's health journey? It's an unlikely scenario for most people and the fact of the matter is, MFP is built around a caloric…

Ah, I missed the comment.

I was confused too. She clearly posed for both pictures.

That was actually a lot like me when I was a kid. I didn't enjoy sweets until I was older and I still don't really eat them often.

I don't know, but I just think your beard is fantastic.

FDA hasn't defined "low carb." Institute of Medicine recommends 130g/day for all humans over the age of 1, so wouldn't "low" be under that recommendation?

Call the government. I confirm, alien.

The prefrontal cortex doesn't fully develop until one is in their 20s, and impacts judgment, decision making and ability to self regulate. Doesn't mean we shouldn't take responsibility but I absolutely don't expect this from a 5 - 10 year old.

Cancer is a disease too. Can't love myself if I have cancer? So is mental illness. I have anxiety and I still love myself - I just strive for change. You can love yourself and want to change for the better.

What does that have to do with the bold?

Yeah, she's a big promoter of the HAES movement.

I don't want to speak for anyone, but I think there is a lot of shaming in all of the forum boards. It tends to take on a different look in chit chat threads, IMO, but it's still there. It's everywhere. (In reference to he conversation between @mccindy72 and @sunn_lighter)
-
I get your point, but it reads as "Fat shaming is fine because other boards are doing it worse." I don't agree with HAES, but like it was said above - a generalization about that rather than pointing out specific people and their flaws may be a better idea.

You need to reach out to a medical professional, not an Internet community.

I'm in Madison...Sconnie love. You're in.

You're in.

A few of us Midwesterners are planning a blanket fort with coffee and booze. We're taking applicants.

I don't think I did justice into my light box research- thanks for posting this! I'm going to do some deeper reading.

I only paid like $40 for mine. Because it's smaller, I have to sit closer to it (it has to be in your direct line of vision and fairly close), but I think it helps.

Full spectrum therapy light (mine is Verilux), Vitamin D supplement, staying on track with my diet and meal planning and not letting myself go home between work and the gym. I hear you, it's the worst! Good luck.

I was in the hospital. I would have told myself that it gets better and soon I would love life again.
