Starvation mode, in the way you are describing it, is a myth. Your body cannot just "hold onto" fat if you are not taking in calories. There are some small changes that have been noted in the metabolic process, but they are minimal and not enough to cause weight plateau over time. If you are seeing changes from one day to…

Goatee!

Agreed!

I'm just afraid people will notice I lost weight eating ice cream and donate me to science early.

I think hell just froze over. ETA: I love that meme so much.
-
Define "plenty." I could always use more...
-
I did nothing but CICO. You can check out all the pictures I posted. They're current, they're real, and I'm meeting goals just fine.
-
Log everything, be consistent and be honest. Good luck!
-
Yup. Keep up the deficit and you'll be good.

You make a good point, because persistence has gotten me further than I thought my body was capable. I still feel it's important to not discount genetics though because there are some things it is physically impossible to achieve for some people. Generally I agree with your premise that it's about persistence and hard work.

I mean, overall you're likely to see losses just about everywhere and not end up completely disproportionate, but yes. For example, I'm a runner and do TONS of lower body strengthening and quad exercises. Despite reaching my goal weight, my thighs remain slightly larger than I would have liked. I could probably recomp and…

Nope. You can't spot reduce. It comes off where it wants to. ETA: or where your genetics dictate.
-
I second the food scale. It's a necessity.

I highly recommend plugging your numbers into the MFP database and logging consistently. The process works! Eat at a deficit and you'll see the weight start coming off. I like to eat too, so I workout a lot so I have a higher calorie allotment.
-
Or he could lose the weight and be confident because he met is goal.
-
Are you suggesting a recomp?
-
You can't. You have to lose weight to lose fat.
-
Nope. You have to continue in a calorie deficit. With or without milk doesn't matter - a calorie deficit is all that will get rid of belly fat.

Women? Overthink things?? What?! Never... Every single one of these threads is exactly that.

I'm all about owning my choices, but you make it sound like the only time it's acceptable to be over one's calories is when one has an emergency - which is not true. Changing plans is not justifying, it's life. If it interferes with goals, that's on you...but I've been over plenty of times because of unexpected nights out…

I'm just going to go ahead and say that when my parents are in the hospital, I'm stranded in a car, or there is a tsunami, I'm probably not going to have to worry about going over my calories. Also, don't be so judgmental.

Call me ;)

Because we're here reading your thread?

How do you NOT get hit on more often?!
-
I can do real push-ups and run a half marathon

FIFY. ETA: Congrats on the bulk/cut success!

Say that ten times fast ...

Ha, you've totally got me wondering because our girl has the same white chest star.

Awwww! Love him! He looks like my pit boxer mix.

Depends. What'd you have in mind?
