Lisa - you rock, Lady!

Yesterday I could finally get my wedding rings off - they'd been stuck on there for the past three years or so. At my highest, I was afraid I was going to have to get them cut off (the rings, not my fingers - haha). Now I can get them cleaned - they're filthy!

Karlotta - if you switch to Bariatric Advantage's Ultra Multi Vitamin with Iron, you only have to take three. I think they're a newer product. They don't come up as anything in my food diary - no carbs or calories. (If you find out different, let me know -

Mine was still liking my new job (second week) and having a really great meeting with an event sponsor this afternoon! Great thread!

Congratulations! I had RNY on 2/19/15. You will be so happy you took this step!

jl - have you been working with a nutritionist at all? Maybe getting an appointment with them would help? They may have some further insights for you. It's disappointing that your surgeon isn't being more helpful. If you don't mind my asking, what type of surgery did you have? I'm sorry you're having such a hard time.

Oh - and if you're a caffeine user, try to wean yourself off gradually. I was a Diet Coke addict and quit cold turkey. Not a good decision - I had terrible withdrawal!

Hi Jill - Nashua Nutrition has sample packs of a ton of different protein powders for $1.95 each. Also, Celebrate will send you a sample pack of protein powder and vitamins for around $3. Nectar sells individual sizes of their drinks, too. Good luck!

Aztec, there's no room in this group for being antagonistic to people. We're all on the same journey.

Hi Dee! Welcome! I agree with Lori - best thing to do is walk as much as you can and get in as much fluids as possible. I had RNY on 2/19/15. It gets better each day. I'd also say to be good to yourself and give yourself the chance to heal. You need to make it all about you for the next couple of weeks (which I know can be…

Just did a low carb tortilla tonight. Yup - only made it through half.

I'm so glad you asked this question! I thought it was just me, too! Lol! It has gotten better, though.

Hi Dustin! I had RNY on February 19th. It was the best decision I've ever made. It's not easy, but it's so worth it. My biggest challenge was adjusting to the fact that I can't really turn to food for comfort like I have in the past. It's something that I know I will continue to grapple with going forward. My surgery…

Hi! What kind of surgery are you having? The nice thing is that with all of them being laparoscopic now, the recovery is much easier! I agree with the walking - it really helps with the gas pains. Getting used to things like small bites, sipping water throughout the day, and chewing food at least twenty times are good…

Yes! Try the protein powders ahead of time! They vary greatly. I really didn't like any of them - lol! But I'm super picky. Also, if you are used to drinking a lot of caffeine, wean yourself off it SLOWLY. I drank Diet Coke right up until the day before I started my two-week liver reduction diet pre surgery and had the…

April - what an AMAZING success! You are so inspirational! Congratulations!!!

Just echoing what the others have said. It gets better and better every day. I am seven weeks out from surgery and I have no regrets. There were definitely a few challenges, but as long as you keep focusing on the end result you will be good! I just sent you a friend request, too.

Thanks for asking this, Michelle! I was wondering, too. My doc said not to drink for a year, but I might try something over the summer - we always have a house party in August. I don't drink much, but I do like to go wine tasting with my husband. It was a little awkward this week because I started my new job at a theatre…

I agree with everyone in that you really don't need to bring much, because they give you everything. I was so glad I brought my phone with ear buds, though. Hospitals can be so loud! Even at night. Listening to music really helped me relax and sleep. I was extremely lucky in that I had my surgery in the morning on 2/19/15…

Agree about calling the surgeon, but in the interim, try propping yourself up on a bunch of pillows. If you can sleep in more of a reclining position, rather than flat, it can sometimes help with the reflux. Good luck!

I did a few last meals of certain foods before my two week liver reduction diet. What got me the worst was that I drank Diet Coke right up to the start of that two week diet. I had horrific caffeine withdrawal for three days! Definitely should have weaned myself off that slowly - don't know what I was thinking!
-
Renae, what a great attitude you have. You're going to do fabulous!
-
Good for you! Please keep us posted on your progress!

Tat2cookie - ugh!

Glad things are going well! Hang in there - it gets easier every day!

I, too, hate the protein drinks! The best one I could tolerate was from Optimum Nutrition. It's called 100% Whey and it's a tropical punch flavor. I mix it with fruit punch flavored Crystal Light. There's a website, Nashua Nutrition, where you can order it. They also do samples for $1.95. Hope this helps and good luck! Jen

Great job with all you've accomplished, Rob. Your advice is always spot on.

Hi - RNY on 2/19/15. Feel free to add me! - Jen
