  • homemade cookies. I can easily limit myself with store-bought sweets but if they are homemade I just... keep shoveling them in my face. :(
  • THANK YOU! I was just sitting here at working thinking, oh I'm swimming today and STILL forgot to watch a video :) Thanks so much! This is helpful. I think I have most of it OK but the timing is a tad off, so now I have something to work purposefully on today, woo hoo! Yep, I understand the Work in Progress thing so much.…
  • Feels lame in the company of such rock stars, but here's me: Swim #6 (of my LIFE, for context): 300m free 300m br :) I've been doing the same exact thing each time, but just trying to do it better. I know I'm not doing breaststroke quite right, but I only ever think to look up form videos when I'm at work, and I'm pretty…
  • Swim #4: 300m free 300m br :)
  • For real? That's legitimately inspiring!!
  • I can't even.... imagine... :)
  • Swim #3: 50 m free 50 m br (6 times for total of 600 m) the end
  • Hey it's my first post in here! woo hooo :) 300m freestyle 300m breaststroke 50m backstroke just to see if I knew how (I don't :D ) But uh... I took little rests in between each length because I'm totally new and trying not to die. Next week I'll do little rests between each 50m instead of between each 25m. I'm totally new…
  • Yes!! Plan is to go Thursday then aim for Tues/Thurs for the foreseeable future. If I can ever get back to playing volleyball on Tues/Thurs I can switch swimming to Mon/Wed.
  • I DID IT! And I didn't die. Thanks for your support everyone. :) I'm so happy I went.
  • I think I might actually be... excited... to go? I'm putting it on my work calendar so no one can schedule a meeting for that time and screw me over.
  • Success! I went to a triathlon type store today and they had literally 2 swimsuits in my size. I bought the least hideous one for like $30 (on sale). I figure it will last me until I figure out if I'm going to enjoy and keep doing the swimming. Then I can really invest in some gear. I'm planning to go for the first time on…
  • Thanks all! I'm kind of almost looking forward to getting started! Just having some first-day jitters, I think. My main roadblock is finding a functional swimsuit. I've looked all over town and no luck so far. I think tonight I'll take my measurements and order online and hope for the best. :)
  • Humboldt Fog with a little green chile jelly is just... there are no words.
  • I am a mom and I just started back into Stronglifts after dealing with some injuries. Basically starting over, but that's ok. :)
  • I want to try it! I think I would have to start with chinups. And for the record I'm afraid I will fall to the ground like a sack of bricks and/or sprain... everything.
  • Same here, trying to stop the downward spiral before it gets out of control. 2 injuries followed by a vacation have put me up 9 lb from my lowest recent weight. Slamming on the brakes as of today. Add me!
  • I'm 5'9", 41, and I'd say small frame. Currently at 156 I am a little squishy. Goal is 140-145 but I also want to get back to lifting. So I might end up at 156 after a year or two of lifting but look much better than my current 156 & squishy. Which would be fine.
  • Saltines with marshmallow fluff.
  • I harvested pine nuts from the trees by my house this weekend. So difficult! You have to put down a tarp, whack the tree with a big stick or other whacking device, the pine nuts (here we call them pinons with a tilde over the n) and pine cones fall to the tarp along with a bajillion pine needles and sticks and small…
  • I've had it for about 2 months now. Ice, ibuprofen, rest, and the elbow brace thingee shown above seem to help, but due to my inability to stop playing tennis and volleyball and such, it still hurts. For me, heat makes it feel good in the moment, but the next day it hurts more. I had to get a new keyboard since I'm at the…
  • Where did you get these? Anywhere near New Mexico? I think the farther you get from Hatch, NM, the more these are a mild, watered-down version of true Hatch green chile. Here in New Mexico, the Sandia, Joe E Parker, and Barker X-hots are typically very hot, whereas the Big Jims can be more mild. I used to see "Hatch green…
  • Update to the previous post: I did the C25K, ran the first 10-min interval (YEAH!), and 8.5 minutes of the second 10-minute interval, at which point I pooped out and had to walk the last 90 seconds. OH WELL. It actually went a lot better than I thought it might. I'm going to redo this particular workout sometime this week,…
  • I'm supposed to be doing a C25K workout today... not sure the w/d but it's two 10-minute run intervals with a walk in between. I'm kind of scared, and coming down with a headache, so I'm debating whether to give this workout a try, or do a "filler" workout of shorter run intervals, like 3R / 2W x 10 then try the C25K…
  • I took my daughter to a sculpture in our small New Mexico town looking for a Pokestop. While we were walking around there looking for it, we saw this like... semi-cholo looking dude walking by. He was wearing all black, tattoos, the whole thing. And as I was thinking, maybe we should get out of here... he shouted over at…
  • New Mexico here, and my daughter picked Team Blue for us -- she's 10 and we are sharing my phone for this game. :) What I really like about this app is that I am thinking not just of "when can I go for a walk" but now it's "WHERE can I go for a walk?" Thinking of taking her to the local university campus this weekend for a…
  • In my daughter's coke at dinner. :)
  • I do a cheat meal once per week, typically. It's not for any scientific purpose. More just like I want some tater tots or chips & salsa, and I like to look forward to that meal. :) Hasn't caused any major problems for me. But then again I'm not trying to maintain keto, just moderately low-carb, the rest of the time.
  • Yep I ate 1.5 lbs of watermelon the other day. Weighed it before (sliced with rind on) then weighed the rind afterward to subtract. The rind weighed almost twice as much as the edible part (fun fact).
