I had some deep-fried Cajun-seasoned peanuts in North Carolina once. They were deep-fried in the shell, and the shell became crispy and edible. Oh and delicious. I wouldn't recommend eating a pound of them but a few handfuls... they were awesome.

This is a GREAT IDEA. I am so doing this. Only have one kid, she's 10 and very athletic. She'll love it, we'll get to do something together, we'll both be getting exercise, and maybe she can even bring the dog. :)

That would be great!! I abhor doing "just abs" stuff. :) Thanks! I'll hit up the google for some videos. Thanks!

My tiny mountain town gym is kind of annoying. The hours are weird (closed on Sundays due to "workout rest day" like as if we all need to rest on the same day? close at 1:00 on Saturdays, closed every day from 1-4 pm, etc. grrr) and when I got there yesterday and went to set up the squat rack, I couldn't move the...…

I did classes at Cardio Barre in southern California for a year and I LOVED IT. It was the hardest class EVER and it incorporated lots of ballet moves (five bajillion plies, tendus, etc.) plus cardio, abs, and some weighted work on shoulders and biceps/triceps. I had defined muscles popping out all over my body. I swear we…

I go to the gym alone and was worried about the same thing! For bench press and squat, I do weight I am confident with before moving up rather than pushing to failure on those. I am OK pushing harder on deadlift and rows because if you fail it's just falling on the floor, not your face. :) For OHP I have only ever done…

One bonus thing I did for my health was see my dr. and request bloodwork to check my thyroid (I'm hypo), iron, vitamins, etc. I have been SO TIRED all of Jan and just want to cover all the bases. Of course this could easily be from working out 7x per week and/or SAD etc. but might as well check everything.

y'all are awesome that is all

How to Cook Everything Fast: A Better Way to Cook Great Food [Mark Bittman] I got this for Christmas and it's about 1,000 pages of recipes, most taking about 30 minutes to prepare. All kinds -- salads, vegs, meats, vegetarian, desserts, soups, etc. The great thing is that the recipes are organized in a way that maximizes…

It had been a week since I did a 5x5 workout due to feeling pretty crappy part of last week. Squats: 5x5@ 75 lb with warmup sets at 45 lb OH Press 5x5 @ 45 lb Deadlift 1x5 @ 140 lb :) If I could lose 18 lbs I would be deadlifting my bodyweight LOL I am developing a fear of hurting myself on deadlift, during the lowering…

Monday: C25K at lunch, Stronglifts 5x5 after work Tuesday: volleyball Wednesday: C25K at lunch, Stronglifts 5x5 after work Thursday: volleyball Friday: REST Saturday: Stronglifts 5x5 in the a.m. Sunday: C25K That's the plan anyway! Weather and health have to be right for all this to happen, specifically C25K as I run…

On rest days I play volleyball for a couple of hours or run/walk. I'm trying to do C25K though the weather is making that hard! Anyway last week I tried to do Run at Lunch and 5x5 After Work on my lifting days plus VB on my off days, which ended up exhausting me beyond. But I'm an idiot so trying it again this week, only…

I buy the little single-serve pouches, because I CANNOT be trusted around an open jar of any kind of nut butter. So I get the Justin's, Wild Friends, and Peanut Butter & CO single serving (2 Tbsp) packets. They are kind of spendy, anywhere from 50c - 1.29 each at Sprouts, but that also keeps me from having them too often.…

When I get home from work I'm going to look up what a kettlebell swing looks like. I need something to make a difference on my... anywhere. :) And I have 1 kettlebell hanging around somewhere.
-
I do both. I'm heading out to run on my lunch hour, then will stop by the gym for SL5x5 on my way home from work.

When you won't try someone else's food because you're too lazy to figure out how to track it. And when you take a shower and then try... just for a second... to track it somewhere.

You all and your squats! I'm so jealous... and looking forward to the day (year?) that I get so far. Monday 5x5 workout: Squats 5x5 @ 80 lb with warmup at 45 and 65 lb. Bench 5x5 at 55 lb with warmup at 45. I don't think this one warmup set really does much good other than it just feels really good. I am starting to see…

Writers -- @DawnEmbers and @krokador and any others -- just putting this out there, when you get your manuscripts finished (see how I said "when" :) ) let me know if you need a beta reader. Also, feel free to come over here and make me write my own #*&%. ETA: @DawnEmbers when you have your query ready, and if you're on…

Voting for Brownie Batter Oreos and Cookies N Cream Oreos (I call this one META OREO -- it's like an oreo stuffed with oreos). So good. And of course Mega Stuff.

Forgot to report on Saturday's workout: Squats 5x5 @ 75 lb with warmups at 45 and 60 lb OHP 5x5 @ 45 lb -- some days this is harder than others! Deadlift 1x5 @ 130 lb -- over/under grip is so helpful on this! I felt solid. Trying to run at lunch today. Then 5x5 after work today. :)

My workouts are short and to the point, with no extra credit lifts yet, but it's what I can do right now: Squat 5x5 @ 75 lb w/ some warmups at 45, 55, 65 lb Bench 5x5 @ 55 lb with a warmup at 45 lb Rows 5x5 @ 55 lb with a warmup at 45 lb I played vball for 2 hours yesterday before I went to lift so I was truly just happy…

Hiya I'm 40 and trying to lose this last 10 lbs. I'm 5'9" currently 160 aiming for 145-150. I'm really working on dialing in my diet, while adding exercise. I play volleyball and also am doing Stronglifts 5x5. My main problem is consistency, and also I am hungry all the dang time. :)

THE BEST!!! Way to go, and way to treat yourself. :)

Workout B yesterday afternoon... all by my lonesome in my wee gym. Which is fine, but the silence is deafening and I feel like I have to be quiet which makes getting the bar back on the rack kind of tedious. I need to remember to bring my headphones. Anywho. Squat: 5x5 @ 70 lb, which is me still getting over being sick.…

Yes I have been trying to lose this last 10 lb (would be happy with 8 really) for like eight years now. Seriously, it's just STUCK. I need to mix it up. I recently started Stronglifts 5x5 which I LOVE. I also play volleyball twice a week, and try to run 1-2 times per week (usually on the weekends). When the weather gets…

2016 Goals: Lifting: - Keep doing 5x5 through end of April, then reassess. - Squat: 120 lb 5x5 - Bench: 65 lb 5x5 - DL: 165 lb 5x5 - No idea if these are realistic, undershooting, overshooting... oh well. Weight and Body: - Lose 10 lb from today's weight and maintain within a 4-lb window. - Take measurements once per…

I love spin class when it's a good instructor. Which I can't find. The gym I go to has a great instructor but she teaches during the work day. The guy that teaches Saturdays does like 10 minute warmup and 10 minute cool down which is way too much just spinning wheels pointlessly. Looked at one near where I work, but it…

Thank you! I have seen this in photos and videos and wondered what its purpose was. I'm going to try it. :) Thanks again!

Ooh chalk! Thank you!! I think I'll try that out while I wait patiently for my grip to catch up. Maybe gloves after that. I'm probably not in need of the hook straps yet for my wee 135 lbs but maybe someday :)
