  • I am doing couch25k now, I am in week 8. I would just echo going super slow. My pace early on was almost 15 minutes/mile. I was really just focused on keeping the gait and not dropping my arms. I am down to right around 13. I won’t be running 5k in 30 minutes at the end of the program, but I am going to move on to the…
  • I have asthma and I am currently in week 8 of couch25k- just got done running 28 minutes. I had several stops and starts with the program and wasn’t really able to do the program until I had spent several months working on walking, getting up to 7 miles without being winded. I also had to start taking my maintence meds…
  • I have been using it for several years. I like it a lot. My weight fluctuates by 5-8 lbs over the course of the month due to water weight, so it helps give me a better perspective on if I am losing, gaining or maintaining.
  • I want to be able to wear a tshirt again and look okay. Any size would be fine. I think this will happen at about a size 8 jeans and a large tshirt. Currently in a size 12 jeans. All my weight is in my stomach. And my face. Sigh.
  • I am 5'8" and my goal weight is 158. I doubt I will stay there- 165ish seems to be a weight I can maintain. I am currently 176 after several injuries and health issues. I do have a large frame, and I look skinny at 158 and wear a size 6 (or 4 in vanity sizing) at that weight, which I will like for a while. At 165 I am a…
  • I think we read the same posts yesterday, OP! I was getting that sense, too- too many people saying things like "I lost 100 pounds and I barely did anything different- I don't know what everyone's problem is!" I read a lot and never post, but just wanted to respond because I got that feeling yesterday, too!
  • I second psychgrrl's reply. I work at a university and I actually love to eat there because all the food is Aramark. I can even use the salad bar scale to weigh things if I like. Our university also puts some nutritional info on the dining services website. My guess is you can find this information. Good luck!
  • This is a great thread, and really helped me today. I weigh every day and track my weight with Happy Scale, but my weight varies ALOT. Today my 10-day moving average went up and it says I gained 1.4 lbs. last week. I am still down 11 lbs since the end of August, and I know the weight gain isn't real, but it is still THERE.…
  • I say take the baby with you in a stroller or carrier. I used to walk for hours when they were smaller with them in the double stroller- I couldn't get work done without child care, so I figured I might as well be out and about. My kids are a bit older now, and it took me awhile to adjust to them being too big to put in a…
  • Honestly, it is really good for me to be asked and give real answers. I feel like not very many people share my (our?!) body type. Which doesn't mean there is anything good or bad about it- I just think it makes it even harder to have an "accurate" body image.
  • Oh, this is interesting. I have MapMyWalk but maybe I would be better off with the hike app. Most of my walks start out as walks headed to hiking areas. I could probably use the recommendations.
  • My original start weight was 192. My recent return to MFP weight was 177 :)
  • OP, your post really resonated with me. We are the same height, I share your body description except I have narrow shoulders (oddly, with thick wrists and ankles and a broad rib cage). I definitely have a thick waist (even when I was younger and in the 130s), but also don't look like an apple. The first time I lost weight…
  • Getting enough sleep has changed my life. I don't think it is directly helping me lose weight. However, my weight problems in the past few years have been caused by getting serious injuries or illnesses and then gaining weight. I think those injuries and illnesses were caused/exacerbated by lack of sleep. I also seem to be…
  • This happened to me multiple times in the past. I think the problem included not eating back exercise calories, so I wasn't eating enough. My doctor concluded that I wasn't sleeping enough. Changing those two things seem to have (knock on wood) solved the problems. It sounds like you may not be eating enough!
  • Threads and conversations like this kind of hit a nerve with me. The numbers quoted above are about right on for me- I have two kids (ages 4 and 6) and I weigh about 20lbs more than I did before I had them. I am trying to lose 10 of that, but I am going to maintain at 10 over, which is where I was for a while until I ate…
  • I did 18:6 about 6 weeks. I had some weird hormone fluctuations and ended up gaining 10lbs. I didn't log anything (which was what drew me to the plan) but the real issue was that I had trouble stopping eating during the window. I would break the fast with a filling, healthy, high fat and moderate protein meal, and then not…
  • This is my first participation on here- I have to say, high horses drive me crazy. Where I live in Colorado, almost everyone is thin and looks fit, but a lot of people have diets I think are bordering on eating disorders, and they are very evangelical about them. I think it may soon be a crime to eat gluten here, and there…
