Spoke with my dietician last night. She said not to worry about it either way as long as my weekly average is above 1500. So next time I'm sitting on that kind of deficit at the end of the night, I ignore it. Thanks all!

@AbsurdParadigm Venison summer sausage. Yes, not the healthiest snack but I was also low on protein so figured it was a good compromise.

Thanks @annacole94 , appreciate the info. @cbelc2 Any particular reason for that? It just seems counter intuitive to me since, as you exercise, your body will need more energy to maintain.

@Look_Its_Kriss I said a loooooong time ago when I switched to diet soda that I'd NEVER drink a caffeine free soda because it would make it pointless! Just an old joke for me. We actually talked about getting a soda stream last night but, at least for now, we cant really justify paying $70 or more for something that its…

That's part of the problem. I've been tracking daily. Never looked at the weekly target and to be honest, not exactly where to look for it. I'm actually exercising 5 days a week right now cardio M-F and weight training M, W, F. Granted, the weight training at this point is fairly minor. I don't know a lot about it so don't…

A bit more information would be helpful here. Are you exercising? If so, then how much? If you are, try changing up your routine. Unfortunately, from what I've heard, slow and steady doesn't necessarily win the race here. A lot of people say to change up your exercise routine to shock your body and keep it from becoming…

@Look_Its_Kriss I was never that bad with soda although at one point in my life it wasn't unusual for me to go through almost a 12 pack of Mountain Dew a day. At this point, my wife and I make a 12 of caffeine free diet coke (seems COMPLETELY pointless without the caffeine doesn't it?!?!) last a week and we're even cutting…

I tried something similar for a while but with lower calorie ice cream than haagen dazs. It worked for a bit but the problem with this for me is that if I do have a binge, ALL of that ice cream is there no matter what size container its in. Surprisingly, I've not been having a big issue with sweets cravings for the last…

Oh, I'm not seeking a scientific solution. I know what to do. I was just curious about this. As I stated in a previous post, since I started seriously working out several weeks ago my cravings have lessened. I have no idea if its the working out, the fact that I've made it a point to stay away from sweets lately, or any…

There are links within the article. I haven't had the chance to read them yet so dont know for sure. I dont think your being sarcastic. When I was younger it was no big deal for me to eat an entire large pan pizza by myself, eat two or three burgers in a meal, or eat 20 or 30 sliders from White Castle in one setting. This…

Dont have to. Have been drinking diet soda and coffee with sweet & low in it for years. Didnt stop when I restarted this in late January but have lost almost 15 pounds. I know I can lose weight while consuming them, I'm more concerned about whether they are having an affect on me and encouraging sugar cravings. Exactly…

Just found this article and thought it was interesting. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2892765/ I must admit, at this point I'm beginning to wonder if its the artificial sweetener as much as the person. " Several large scale prospective cohort studies found positive correlation between artificial sweetener…

@ninerbuff Where? I'd love to be able to read them. Only recently started using these forums so not terribly familiar yet.

Very possible. I've noticed over the last several weeks, as I got back in the habit of working out on a regular basis, that my sweets cravings have lessened to the point of not having had a serious craving for a week or two. Something else that we all need to remember is that everyone is different. For me, I think that the…

My nutritionist. I've also read several articles online although cant remember from where and I'm ALWAYS dubious about articles I read online. That was the reason I took the question to my nutritionist.

That's why I made that distinction. Whenever people say muscle weights more than fat, its the equivalent of saying that gold weighs more than aluminum. The point isn't to check one pound of each, its to check equal volumes and see which weighs more.

Thanks for this! Just got my Fitbit Charge 2 on Sunday and was wondering how accurate it was. Last night, before dinner, MFP told me I had 1400 calories including workout calories while the Fitbit said I had around 3200. I will ignore this on the Fitbit for a while. I'm currently eating back approximately 3/4 of my…

Hehehe! Gotta be careful about what you offer ninerbuff!

You've received some really great advice here. Just want to add a couple of things. First off, we always hear that muscle weighs more than fat but the reality is, as someone previously stated, a pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle. Look at it this way, picture five pounds of bricks and then five pounds of…

Just remember that artificial sweeteners tend to cause the same reactions in the body as sugar does, then, when there isn't any sugar it freaks out and craves more. This is coming from another sugar addict btw. Sugar is one of the things I'm tracking on MFP because I need to get that monkey off my back before it kills me.…

No, during the week I'm much more restricted to access during the day while at work. I work at a prison so it makes it much more difficult to just pop over to the store or fast food joint to pick something up. I have a few things stashed in my desk but these things disappear from time to time so I don't have much. It tends…

Excellent point! I went to the movies this weekend and for me, its just not a trip to the movie theater without a tub of buttered popcorn. I adjusted for the day, having a later breakfast and then a fairly low cal stir fry for dinner. I have no intentions whatsoever of giving up the occasional popcorn or ice cream. I just…

I've considered weighing every day but doing it much more than once a week tends to frustrate me and make me want to give up. As previously stated, I'm getting better about the binges. This is more just a curiosity question than a real life application. I usually do weigh on Fridays but it was more about the first day of…

One thing to keep in mind with all of this is that the body is an engine. It HAS to have fuel to keep you going and if you aren't putting enough fuel into the tank, exercising every bit of calories consumed without eating additional food for instance, then the engine will break down. In the case of the human body, it will…

My dietician has told me to eat back approximately 3/4 of my exercise calories but she has also been monitoring my diet, exercise, and progress for quite a while so has a pretty good idea of what's going on. It also depends a bit on what you have MFP set at. The half a pound to 2 pounds per week thing? Remember that…

You've had some really good advice here but realistically, it comes down to what you need and what you're trying to do. If you're trying to lose weight and having trouble then most definitely. If you're not tracking them and still losing weight no problem then don't worry about it. I personally need to track just damned…

I don't think there is a way to change the goal from day to day. Every time I've done it, it automatically changes all previous. Weird, but whatever. You may or may not be able to do that if you have the premium service but I don't so couldn't say for sure. I do have to ask though, what's the purpose of "banking" calories?…

One cup of Friendly Farms Greek vanilla yogurt from Aldi's and one cup of Kashi vanilla graham clusters cereal. Only 330 calories and it keeps me full till lunch. I specified the Aldi's Greek yogurt because its the only one I've found to be any good. All of the others are too thick and pasty for me. Feels like I'm eating…
