That's it. Check your form and get it down pat with less weight before going heavy. Active recovery will help with soreness.

There are lots of great programs available for dumbbell training. What are your fitness goals?

Great advice on improving grip strength. I use Captains of Crush grippers from IronMind. Also be careful how you use lifting straps as they can cause injury if not worn properly. The more you deadlift the more your hands will get used to it. It's okay for ladies to wear lifting gloves in my opinion.

When you break down major muscle groups on leg day you can expect water retention. You'll recover! But since muscle is more dense than fat, your weight will increase as your muscle mass increases even with a low body fat percentage.
