Hey good luck on yr journey and very sorry for yr troubles. Hope yr Road smooths out

Good luck and congrats on your journey. I have tried a few personal trainers with mixed results. My current one is my fave and I have been w her for years because she challenges me but respects my "issues" (destroyed my leg in 2001 and still have pain and mobility issues). Also she never saw me as a fat, older woman but…

We leave in pairs a few minutes apart. I ride with my hubby. We passed one other pair, the rest of the time we were on trail alone. It isn't really a race. You try to come in with yr best time and the horse fit to continue. I didn't feel like I overexerted. I just don know. But thanks for the input.

Not sure if anyone is participating in this group anymore but here's hoping ..... Had a great ride Sat and finished the Ride which turned out to be 20 miles rather than the posted 16 as the trails had to be changed at the last minute due to a torrential rain storm the night before which flooded some if the trails. I did…

I started having issues at rides w dehydration and elites 2 years ago which is why I now pound back water and take elytes only w water. I ate my normal eggs n back bacon 3 hours before the Ride and made myself eat 3 babybel cheese at the half way point although I was soooo not interested in food. Your feedback is very…

I was wondering about that but each cap has 63 mg and I had six over 3 hrs for a total of 378 mg and a total daily intake of 2000. My nutritionist told me to aim for 3000. I was a little short as on Ride day I have no desire to eat.

I have had sleeping issues since my teen years. They seem to cycle so I wld sleep great fir weeks then a week of limited sleeping w lots of waking up and trouble finding sleep. Since I started keto I gave only had one night of rough sleep which I put down to two cups of coffee in the evening. I don't know why, but LCHF…

I cldnt do an egg fast as my brain and stomach often reject them. When I do eat them they are boiled w a little butter and loads of butter and back bacon. Without the extra butter I cldnt eat them at all.

So have been on a keto eating plan for about a month and lost about 15 pounds. The big test is this Saturday. Doing a small 16 mile ride with homemade unsweetened elites and NO CARBS. The test is too see how my energy levels react to just fat burning. Fingers crossed that it is a success as mid-August I am doing a 40 mile…

What kind of supplements? Assume u r on a LCHF diet - how long? R u consuming any artificial sugar replacements? What exactly are u craving?

I have to watch my calories or I don't lose. I am generally around 1500 per day and lose 1-4 lbs per week.

Inspiring and well written. Thanks for sharing!!!!

I started LCHF July 3rd. So far down 11 lbs and feeling pretty good ie not hungry or tired BUT really have to watch my elites especially potassium otherwise I feel horrible. That means about 1/2 to 1 1/2 tsp of No Salt per day (gag) depending on my macros but it seems to be helping. Anyone else here doing thus type of…

Had an AMAZING ride yesterday. We were out for over two hours. Did some stuff in the paddock first, leg yields, transitions, etc then hubby and I went out for about an hour. Thor was amazing. Came back and Tom decided to pony our third horse, Shiloh, which he had never done before. This is Thors main buddy so he was very…

My cast iron skillets are 20 years old. Love them more each year as they just get more seasoned. My moms are at least 50 years old and used daily.

Nothing replaces a really good extra Virgin olive oil. Plus you need that healthy fat to get all the nutrients out of your vegetables.

For me, the hunger went away when I upped my healthy fat intake. Fat helps us feel full longer and helps us absorb many minerals, vitamins etc. Our brain recognizes we have eaten when the fat button is pushed where a meal of carbs might have the brain requesting more intake. Dehydration can mimic hunger and if the body is…

My favourite is riding my horse where I get most of my cardio. All other exercise I do is to make me a better rider. So I do weight/interval training and yoga. I found a friend who wanted to check out my trainer so we go twice a week. It is in her home gym so no big public gym full of people which I found kinda depressing.…

I was informed by a trainer that some of the loose skin still contains stubborn fat that will eventually break down but my doctor told me some if it is genetics, age and what your body has been through during the past years - all of which is history and pretty unchangeable. I feel the same as you about surgery but a friend…

I just started a ketogenic diet last week and lost 7 pounds. I am trying to cook from scratch and eat healthy while keeping my carbs down and fats up. I am working on 20g Carbs, 177g fat and 87g protein or 4%, 79%, 17%. I figured out the portions based on my height/weight and formulas from a keto book I picked up. This…

@ryenday - re vegies. We have become olive oil snobs after doing research on the oil available in most grocery stores. We get ours straight from Italy now and I love all vegetables, any vegetables saluted in olive oil w some salt and/or other seasonings. Was never a huge fan of many vegies esp cooked, but this method works…

Thanks for your support. My boys are coming home today for a Mothers Day Dinner ❤️❤️❤️❤️. Tomorrow back to my moms for the funeral and family stuff. Home Monday night. Next week the weather is supposed to be better - sun might even be a part of it!!!!! Already have my trainer booked for some lessons Wed. Tues and Fri…

Thor is getting better. Definitely spring time behaviour but seemed worse this year so had teeth floated, saddle fit checked, masseuse came out plus trying the DORN method - first appt was today - lots of head tossing then yawning with licking and chewing. So something going on but will wait before I make a judgement on…

Have been trying to ride Thor around our acreage but he has been difficult with head tossing, some minor bucking and (what I hate the most -JIIGGING
-
Idk. He was weird. I haven't ridden since but my trainer took him out yesterday and said he was great. So maybe the girth was pinching or he was just having attitude. Horses always talk to us but hard to hear him sometimes. Still cold today but warmer tomorrow so will try again. Our first ride is April 30th so wld like to…

Rode on Sunday w hubby but Thor was a bit of a jerk ☹️. My hubby was getting a little testy as I didn't want to trot .... Thor really wanted to but walk requests were giving me the jig so kept correcting, giving him free rein and asking for a nice walk. I'd get it for a few strides then back to jigging. My hubby asked to…

We were crewing for friends at a ride in Maine last summer and there was a man there who had a winch to lift him onto his horse. He is paralyzed below the waist and still rides!! Horses and riding are so motivating to this of us with the bug. Good luck on your journey.

New here. Hope this group is still active as riding and boy Thor are what motivate me. I only started riding at 40. Took lessons for three years but then had an accident. Lonnngg story short - they were going to remove my leg but after 3 years and 6 surgeries my leg stayed and I started my come back. Had no muscle and had…

Bad accident - they were going to cut off my lower leg. Years of surgeries, wheelchairs and weight gain. Kept the leg but my shin and ankle are full of metal. Took years to get some flex back. Stuff that helped me includeded tenaciously hunting for the right physio who actually researched horseback riding, yoga, yoga,…
