For what it is worth, my daughter who is also on MFP was having an issue similar to yours. When she went to the doctor, the doctor told her to drop her calorie goal by 200 calories. She did and started losing weight immediately. I log my exercise burn calories based on the activity. Sometimes I use the calculators that MFP…

BTW, From my highest weight, I am down 64 pounds overall with another 55 to go to get to my goal weight. I lost the first 58 and then regained 16 of those. I am 5'4" tall and will be 49 years old. I have some quirky neuro deficits due to a brain aneurysm in 2001 after which I had 2 strokes. So, I can empathize. I have only…

I support you. Please be gentle with yourself and give yourself time to make changes. I gave myself 66 days before I judged anything. I read that it takes at least 66 days to change or acquire a habit. For me, it has been a matter of changing how I approach food and sticking with exercise until I learned to get joy out of…

I have found while on MP that everyone is different and people have to find what works for them. My daughter was on MFP for 86 days and she gained weight. For the last 2 weeks, she started losing after tweaking her calorie goal down a little more. I tend to lose weight in fits and starts. I went through about 3-4 weeks…

I don't raise the topic with people. Part of my work puts me in front of people on a regular basis. (I am the equivalent of an Associate Pastor of a church as an Episcopal deacon.) People have started to notice a change in my appearance. Those closest to me have noticed how much more energy I have and how I seem to have…

This thread is making me rethink my use of ibuprofen. I get my liver checked regularly due to other meds I am on and my liver function is fine. However, I think I will try some days without the ibuprofen and see how I feel.

Is MI=myocardial infarction?

Do you think that Omega 3 supplements help in the same way adding fat to the diet does. I eat a very low fat diet. Thanks for your thoughts.

I hear you on that stretching. If I do not stretch first, I get real tightness in my hamstrings and calves.

When you said "old farts," I know you were talking to me. I will be 49 years old next week! LOL!!! I do. Most mornings I take 2 ibuprofen to help with my joint aches. I get to the gym when it opens at 5:30am. I am a treadmill addict and make sure I stretch before I put in an hour+ on the treadmill. When I do my outdoor…

My daughter got a rash from her Fitbit Charge HR. She is going to loosen it and see what happens. Hopefully, that will be the fix and she can continue to use it. If nickel is an issue with these devices, I probably will not be able to use one.

My suggestion is stick with the process. Keep weighing and measuring your food. Don't skimp on your cardio. Eat within your calorie goal. I am pretty new at this. After the first two weeks, I hit a serious plateau and did not lose any weight for about 2 or 3 weeks. I was weighing and logging "religiously." I was getting to…

I really enjoy the treadmill and try to do 45-60 minutes on it 4-5 times a week. It works for me. I like watching Sportscenter while I listen to music from my Spotify walking workout playlist. Once I get in my zone the time goes by pretty fast. I recommend https://jog.fm for finding music that matches your pace. The site…

Thanks everyone! I definitely appreciate the good advice about the words I use to talk about going to the gym and the benefit of your experiences!!!

For a few months, I thought I was in the clear and I was in menopause, no such luck. I am almost 49. Now, my cycle is back and is just irregular. 28 days until this month was 22 days. What was that about. When I read your post, I looked up "perimenopause" and that explained a lot. This thread is really making me feel…

Glad this thread is here because after having a nice gradual weight loss going the scale bounced up by 1.2 pounds and this afternoon my period started. So, not happy!!! LOL!!!

The best motivation I have found so far is something I read in a MFP blog: http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/how-to-ignore-the-quitter-in-your-head/ I learned one of my mantras from it, "keep the cadence, change the distance." This helps me not quit and to keep moving towards my goals. I may not be losing weight as fast as some…

Sabine, you are really right about the data. I am learning a lot just by logging stuff. My life does not seem so random anymore. It really helps ease anxiety. There is cause and effect for a lot of things. Plus, by keeping track of things, I know I am doing the right stuff. That gives me confidence that sooner or later . .…

This happened to me for about 10 days. Then the weight started coming off again. I just made sure that I stuck with my eating plan and did not go over my net calories. Also, I got to the gym as often as I could. Living in the real world, I travel for work and sometimes my schedule does not allow for me to workout. At those…

Story has a happy ending. Like everyone said. About a week after my period, I stepped on the scale. Voila! All was right with the world and I was back on track! I won't freak out next time. Thanks everyone!!!

I wish I could hug each of you that replied. I cannot tell you how much encouragement you have given me not to panic and to stick with the stuff we are doing that we know is working. I feel so much better knowing that I am not alone. Thank you. . . So much!!!!

BTW, I just saw that you are here in the Commonwealth too!!! Good lawd, will the children ever have a full week of school again? LOL!!!!

Greetings moe_coe!!! I have only been back on about 3 weeks. I am having a lot of fun with MFP. It is really helping me stay on track with my eating. I really was not aware of what I was consuming until I started tracking it. Having buddies on here helps. Glad you are joining the community!!!!

I do. My overall goal is to lose 76 pounds. I have lost 4 so far. The hardest part is staying in the moment . . . today. Making one choice at a time. Deciding to exercise today. I am trying not to look down the line. If I do all the right things today, then all the todays will add up. Right? I hope so. Glad there are…
