I pre-log my meals for the day, and then make adjustments as I go along according to what actually happens. If I feel like a snack late in the day, I know roughly how many calories I have left in my 'budget.' Sometimes, just logging that portion of chips or candy or ice cream (or whatever) and seeing that it would put me…

Are you weighing and logging everything you're eating? The good and the bad? For some people, seeing the caloric cost of this behavior can be the first step in making small and sustainable changes. Also can help with regaining a semblance of control in a situation that can make you feel powerless.

What you choose to do for yourself does not make everyone else incorrect. The truth is exercise is *not* a prerequisite for weight loss - a calorie deficit is. If exercise helps you achieve and maintain that deficit, that's where the benefit lies for you. :)

Why not?

This. Which is often exacerbated because desperate people can easily fall into a more-is-better mindset, especially since it's touted as an 'all-natural' product. So if one shot of ACV is supposedly beneficial, a double shot is bloody likely to be miraculous. :(

Congrats on your success so far! Well done! Totally agree that getting more active - even slowly - right off the top is very important. Not saying to hit the gym like a maniac, but any activity, be it water jogging (which I love!) or just leisurely walking around the block and slowly increasing the distance and pace is an…

What are your stats? Height, current weight, goal weight? Losing more than 2 lbs a week - unless you are morbidly obese and under a doctor's supervision - is not a route you should consider. The burn-out/binge rate is exceedingly high, plus, long-term, it has some very serious side effects. Why the hurry?

Weight loss is solely governed by consistently eating less calories than your body burns. Intermittent Fasting is merely a way that helps some people achieve that necessary caloric deficit. Intermittent Fasting doesn't have any additional benefits that somehow speed up this process. If eating in a restricted time period…

Damn. That's what I'm doing wrong! :p

Are you actually weighing what you eat on a food scale before logging? I see a lot of entries that suggest otherwise. If you're not weighing it, chances are excellent that you're consuming more calories than you think.
-
Just know that today's not that day. You have more important things to focus on. :)

Bear repellent. ;)

It should also be noted that antibiotics can actually create life-threatening and highly contagious intestinal infections like C. diff. So, a bit of a mixed bag. :(

It will be interesting to see how this translates to human studies if it ever gets that far. Until then - like all research done on mice - yes, it's interesting, indicative that more research is likely warranted, but nothing at this point to get excited over or use as 'evidence' before its time. :)

First of all, I'm glad to see you've lowered your expectations. What you were initially striving for was unrealistic and potentially dangerous. To the bolded: Be aware that the oft-touted 'benefits' of Intermittent Fasting are not scientifically proven at this point, and from what I've seen, are simply naturally occurring…

So much this! I have no qualms about (gently) chiding someone who, for example, is being horribly verbally abusive to a cashier or a store employee, especially if the abuser is trying to intimidate or frighten the employee into doing or giving them something to which they clearly aren't entitled. I find I can get away with…

As mentioned above, I would approach staff in this situation because that's their job, not mine. I don't want to see them get hurt, either, which is why I would talk to staff about it instead of just putting on my headphones and being oblivious. So, yes, I'm "concerned about others." I just also happen to know my place. :)

It's only obsessive and frustrating to some people, and generally only if they don't understand why it happens in the first place.
-
Since the day-to-day weight fluctuations are stressing you out, either use a weight trending app like Mitch ^^ suggested, or stop weighing yourself every day. Also understand that as a women, your weight will fluctuate all over the place depending on where you are in your cycle. It's just water and has *nothing* to do with…

Yup! If I saw someone doing things like in that video, I would approach staff, make them aware and let them deal with it. Other than that, it's not my rodeo. ;)

I saw no attacks, let alone personal ones?

Me, too. My wrinkles are no longer plumped out. :D Still wouldn't trade it for anything.

Have you guys figured out what, specifically, caused you to quit the other 11,999 times? That might be a good place to start. :)
-
@Annie_01 - Figuring out the why and then finding the best/easiest way to achieve weight management goals is definitely the key to success. Thanks for sharing your painfully difficult story. I hope it helps people realize that we're all on the same road. We just might be driving different vehicles. <3

And therein lies the rub. ;)

Yup! I've been - technically at least - doing IF for literally decades. Four and a half, to be exact. Long before it had a fancy name, different 'feeding windows,' or the implied degrees of commitment and moral fortitude ranging from slacker all the way up to hardcore saint. :D I simply don't eat breakfast. I don't eat…

Is that sandwich a triple-decker? Looks yummy!

I guess that's really my question to her. Was her weight constant throughout or did it increase when she wasn't doing IF, simply because she was eating over a longer period of time each day? Because, yes, weight management is solely a matter of calories consumed vs calories burned. :)
-
Curious to know how much your weight also fluctuated between when you were IF-ing and when you weren't. Did you lose weight while Intermittent Fasting and then gain it back when you stopped?
