I think it's a combination of several factors. Definitely yes, first and foremost, people do like to believe their choices (however derived at) are the best. Where emotion overtakes logic, however, is when they will hold steadfast in the face of all evidence to the contrary. They're the "My mind is made up, don't confuse…

I don't dismiss them, but I don't come on sites like this and claim them as fact, either. Nor would I use myself as an unofficial lab rat in the hopes it does some good without killing me. :D "Promising new research" is a dime a dozen. Because, if they didn't think there was promise, initial trials wouldn't have been done…

There are no quick ways. Just as there are no quick ways to gain strength. Whatever you do decide to do, I hope that doesn't include lifting until, a) you find out what you did and b) you learn enough to not re-injure yourself.

Well, it's your body, so... If he doesn't approve of your smaller bum, maybe lose him along with those last few pounds? ;)
-
If you are actually only netting an average of 700 calories per day post-exercise, that *would* be cause for concern. Are your specialists aware of your level of activity?

This ^^^ There are no proven 'extra benefits' or magic to doing IF. It's simply one method that helps some people control calorie intake to manage their weight.
-
Yup. No one-size-fits-all. As you know, the only universal truth is that it takes a calorie deficit, maintained over time, to lose weight. However anyone chooses to go about doing that is just personal preference.
-
Why does it have to be all or nothing to work?
-
I think this graphic is terrific. Until people actually get educated on how calories - and only calories - matter for weight management, the good/bad food mentality only serves those who like to virtue-signal. I see that all the time - on here, in restaurants, in the check-out line at the grocery store. "Good" food eaters…

The biggest problem with WW is their "free" foods aren't free. They all contain calories, and if eaten in quantity, can easily override the caloric deficit needed to lose weight.
-
Don't know about the name, but the tagline should be, "Watch as the weight flies off!" :D

So. Much. This. Signed, #reformedredlightaddict

Six years later? Pull the other one...

Pan-seared pork tenderloin is the food of the gods. <nods>

Please don't do this to yourself. No 'challenge' is worth it.
-
OP: Does this "Challenge" involve any monetary reward or penalty? But even if it doesn't, your instincts are bang on. This is needlessly restrictive and potentially harmful.
-
I'd be chewing my leg off an hour later, though. :D Always been someone who needs to actually *eat* my calories to get any satiety bang for the buck.
-
FIFY As I mentioned up-thread, OP, you seriously need to consider getting professional help with your bingeing issues. I honestly feel that anything else you do - including your mis-directed focus on working out and micro-managing that - is just the tail wagging the dog. :(
-
It should be.

Honestly, using a food scale is the easiest and most accurate way to track your intake and the 15 or 20 bucks you'll spend to get one will be the cheapest investment in your health that you'll ever make. <3
-
Yes, but bad news for the scamsters selling this crap. :D
-
Yeah 1/2 a cookie wouldn't be sustainable for me, either. :D I leave approximately 200 calories for my evening snack. Sometimes I eat more than that, sometimes less, sometimes nothing at all. I do find that it averages out pretty well, though, over the long term.

Calories rule. There's no special advantage to keto. It's fine if you like the restrictions, hell if you don't. ;) Edited to add: Our Ontario peaches are freaking amazing this year!

Speaking of big pharma, vaccinations really *do* cause autism. :D

Just remember: "Leaflets three, let it be." :D

This is a good friend to have. <nods>

Pretty sure chickens are warm-blooded. ;)

Woo, too.
