  • Ha! I guess since I've had lots of hot flashes I should have burned away fat and that troublesome cholesterol years ago! The weirdest fad diet secret I was told was that every three hours you are supposed to drink a glass of water with maple syrup and cayenne pepper and lemon in it. Supposedly that makes the fat disappear…
  • Kinda weird how the boss took the side of a new employee who was on the job just one day. I mean, you have seniority. You could have said, "Hey, I was here first!" Anyhoo, as others have said, I'd just excuse myself to fart elsewhere. And I'd complain loudly if someone sprayed lavender scented stuff in my air. I'm actually…
  • I ate back 50 to 75% of the calories I earned through doing exercise. I continued to lose weight at the rate I was aiming for. MFP calculates what you burn, but some people here on the forums have suggested that MFP calculates calorie burn for some exercises inaccurately. That's why I don't eat back 100%. So eat them!!
  • OP, you mentioned you take Garcinia Cambogia. In some 12-week studies of people taking it for weight loss and appetite suppression, they found that it could result in no more than a little less than two pounds of weight loss and no effect on appetite suppression. It is also highly recommended that you tell your doctor you…
  • MFP set my weight loss calorie goal at 1200 per day because I wanted to lose 2 pounds a week. I certainly had cravings! I re-set my goal and was then set at 1340 calories per day. That allowed me to eat a protein bar, which was a sweet treat and helped cut back cravings after dinner. But after I started exercising and…
  • I hope you are eating the calories you’ve been earning by exercising. You shouldn’t go below 1200 calories. Anyway, it’s probably water weight. Keep eating real food to fuel your workouts. Drink more water. And do not do that Slimming World nonsense. MFP works, it’s free, and you develop lifelong habits. I reached my goal…
  • You’ve been able to be successful in increments. Remember that you’ve done it before you can do it again. Just don’t stop again. It’s really that straightforward. Use MFP. Be diligent. Develop the habits you need and the rest will follow. Good luck!
  • @tespencer the "gait evaluation" is just the salesperson watching you jog down the sidewalk and back. I tried on five pairs of running shoes. We figured out that two pairs worked best for me, and I chose one of them. He was just able to see that I ran smoother, my foot hit the ground in the right place, etc. etc. And I…
  • Well, try to lose half a pound a week and be happy with that. Those last few pounds just come off slower. When my weight loss slowed, I just decided to be more patient and trust the process. Worked for me.
  • Why not just make your own food, get full and satisfied, and have no room left over for your husband's food? Make what you make tasty and yummy smelling. Honestly, it used to be there wasn't a homemade cinnamon roll I could walk by. But with practice, I learned that I could, indeed, not eat that *kitten*. I used to imagine…
  • I wear mine. They have slipped down my nose but I get them readjusted and then they’re fine. If it becomes a real problem you can get bands that keep them on your head. I use that with my sunglasses when running outside.
  • You lost one pound per week. That is excellent progress!
  • I used to be a mediator. Sometimes the parties mediate how to wade through the divorce process amicably, especially when kids are involved. They also negotiate property division and custody arrangements. BUT sometimes they mediate how to solve relationship problems and get back together despite their history of distrust.…
  • By now you’ve probably learned all you could possibly need from the dietician. Write down everything you’ve been told by this person, and discontinue your expensive waste of time there. Recommit yourself to following the MFP program, weighing and logging your food every day. Refer to your notes if you need a reminder about…
  • I eat protein and carbs and chocolate and cheese and avocado and whatever else sounds good IF it’s within my calorie allotment for the day. If you insist on making excuses for yourself, you’ll stay right where you are. There’s no reason to deny yourself the foods you want. Maybe instead of wallowing in despair about your…
  • I basically don’t beat myself up for being inconsistent. It took awhile to reach this point but I figured I was doing this weight loss thing at whatever pace I could manage, and there’s no reason to be cruel to myself about little missteps. Here’s my advice: follow the MFP program. Log your weight and your calorie intake.…
  • If a girl hit you and bullied you, would it be because she liked you and wanted to be your friend ? Heck no!! It’s a pretty lame attitude from past generations to excuse a boy’s misbehavior as some kind of misdirected desire to be your pal. That attitude bugs me so much!! When you’re a kid and come home in tears because a…
  • You look amazing! What an impressive accomplishment. I mean, your eyes look huge, did you lose weight in your eyelids? Is that even possible? Your eating habits sound perfect. I, too, continue to drink Coke Zero, but it's helped me forego margaritas and milkshakes, so I keep on with it. I think one 8 ounce serving a day is…
  • I lost 30 pounds. Now when I kick my legs up in Zumba, my knees don't hit a sagging stomach. In fact, they don't come into contact with my body at all! I also increased my speed and stamina after finishing the Couch to 5K program. I used to be able to jog about three minutes straight when I started. Now I can run about 15…
  • Nope. I have received a number of compliments from friends and family, but they love me just the same. Nobody has been snarky. Sometimes when I turn to the side, someone will gasp and say, "Wow, you look great!" Then they ask my secret and I rave about MFP, or just say I move more and eat less.
  • Wow! Congratulations on your amazing success! Sometimes I freak out a little when I see a number that sounds "heavy", but I'm basically maintaining my goal weight within 3 to 5 pounds. What is your goal weight? I have finally accepted the fact that the scale number will not be what I want it to be, but I let go of the…
  • I had some of that when I wasn’t eating enough. (Nausea and headache, but not the metallic taste thing). I found eating something soothing and filling helped. My favorite was two scrambled eggs with a little cheddar on top. Or a piece of wheat bread with mashed avocado. Or some 2% cottage cheese with salsa. Are you eating…
  • MFP is accurate enough for me. I just ate back about 50% of the calories I earned doing Zumba and lost weight.
  • Yoga is more challenging than I thought it would be. Pilates, too. They both toned me up. But it was simply losing the excess weight that made the most difference. If you have access to the group classes, check to see if they have BodyPump. Nice weight work routine with focus on abdominals at the end.
  • Well, get back on track & you’ll be fine.
  • @Makingchanges17 Don’t let that winter weather keep you indoors! I lived in Alaska for 18 years so I understand wanting to avoid the cold. Cuddleduds brand long underwear for women was a great layer under my thick wind resistant tights or snow pants. Hat, scarf, gloves or mittens (I liked fleece lined wool felt ones). A…
  • My heart rate doesn’t go up too high because I take breaks between cleaning tasks.
  • I hope on exercising days you are eating back the calories you earned. You will lose weight doing so. Then just eat what MFP says to eat. Easy-prays.
  • Consider eating a protein rich snack. If this is happening about the same time every afternoon, you can avert this by eating a little (maybe some cheese and crackers and an apple, or a boiled egg with something else). Drink some water. And for heaven’ssake, see your doctor soon.
