  • My OH was diagnosed with Liver Cancer in December and due to his treatments is now on a high calorie intake to offset the effects of Radiation treatment. So I usually eat before he gets home from work and sit with him during his meal with a piece of fruit, cup of yogurt etc. It is a little difficult at first, but now…
  • I think it just depends on individual available time. I am NOT a morning person and cant seem to just jump out of bed and begin exercising. I workout between 1 and 3pm for 1 hr 5X per week. I don't have designated off days, just use random days that I need to be doing other obligations as off days. For me . . . my evenings…
  • Just outside of Dayton!! Was Sleeting here earlier today!
  • Please listen to me carefully!! I am a nurse and these are RED FLAG symptoms! Please visit your physician and tell him the symptoms you are experiencing before you begin any further running exercise.
  • I avoid the Bakery like the plague right now. I LOVE cream filled doughnuts and would just rather not be around the temptation. Something to think about is every time I "Pass" on a sweet (my weakness) it becomes easier and easier. I also think how hard I had to work out to equal the amount of calories in that sweet.
  • Power thru when you think you can't. Put a picture of favorite pair of skinny jeans on your refrigerator, or even an entire cute outfit and picture yourself in that outfit!! Weigh and log accurately, start an exercise routine, anything you can do. Set small 10lb goals in increments . . . take before pictures for…
  • Everybody is different and depends on how much you have to loose. I went 2 weeks recently with no loss, then only 1 lb the next week. BE PATIENT! If you are in a calorie deficit AND weighing your food and exercising, the weight will come off.
  • I microwave eggs almost every day. I use 1 medium egg, 2 tablespoons of water, splash of eggwhites and sometimes 1/4 cup 0% milk. Microwave full power for 2 minutes, if still a bit runny, add another minute. They are fluffy and delicious.
  • Jim . . . I am a retired nurse of 32 yrs and that is a very high A1C. I am so proud you have a determined spirit about this now. I can assure you several of these problems will resolve with weight loss and exercise. Your grandkids will be so happy to have you around for many more years. Get Going dude . . . you GOT this .…
  • Everybody is definitely different, but when I face a challenge like this I know myself and if I start "Nibbling" it turns into all out 2-3 gone. I just power thru it and do not indulge.
  • Where do you live in Ohio? I live in Enon. And yes, it was beautiful here today and will actually be even better tomorrow!!
  • Were you on Prednisone??
  • Thank you . . . raining here . . . inside workout again! My name is Nanci. thanks again
  • I would like to join also. I started about a month ago and am down 6 lbs with about 15 to go. MUCH harder when you get a little older, but determined!! I'm 62, recently retired nurse and ready to wear my jeans with shirt tucked in again!
  • Awahhh! To be honest . . . he made me cry many times! When I was having a bad day his smile and determination always made me feel better somehow, like if he could push thru such tremendous odds . . . I could certainly push thru a bad day at work! This is an amazing thing to witness. I saw a policeman (Very overweight…
  • I read comments a lot, but comment myself very little. Your post reminded me of a wonderful inspirational story I witnessed. As I was driving to work every day several years ago I saw a VERY obese middle aged man walking every morning. He was obviously struggling just to achieve a normal pace, his tummy was hitting his…
  • I love my Bowflex Max Trainer. It is like an elliptical, stepper, arm resistance all mixed in one. It takes a while to build up your endurance and has several programs to choose from as your strength increases. I could only do about 5 minutes max and have now increased to 25 minutes with about 360 calories burned each…
