  • It's hard when you have others to look after. You always seem to be the last priority right? But you have to make yourself and your health a priority for you daughter. Especially if you have diabetes. You don't need to exercise to lose weight. It will be better for your health if you can, but if it's difficult right now,…
  • Work it into your cals for the day!
  • Check out a workout channel on YouTube called Zuzka Light - she does short workouts that only involve bodyweight. They might include some cardio though sorry!!
  • Is it financially viable for you to join a gym or invest in some weights? You can sometimes pick up dumbbells for free on websites like Craigslist. In the meantime you can do bodyweight moves as suggested by arditarose - push ups, squats, lunges, tricep dips.
  • Thanks all! For ages I was in total denial about my before pictures. I never really thought I was that overweight - until I look back now!!! I think I've kept the weight off for long enough to be pretty confident it's permanent!
  • If you have reached your calorie limit and you are then eating a Quest bar - that's at least 200 cals over a day. 400, or more if you are having more than one. This might be offset if you are working out too. But you need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. Simples :)
  • Do you have any equipment at home? I work out at home and have used a bunch of different programs to get me started - Jamie Eason's LiveFit on Bodybuilding.com is good, but you'll need access to a gym. Same for 5x5 Stronglifts - or you need some serious equipment at home. Some more accessible programs might be something…
  • Ooooh no, don't cut out carbs! It makes it so much harder to stick to. Your body needs carbs, especially if you are working out. Make sure you have a balance of carbs, protein and fat and the weight will come off. How many cals are you on a day?
  • I know other women who don't do any cardio and have had great results. For me, HiiT training has worked. And I *cough* enjoy cardio.
  • There's a calculator you can use at http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ - I've had great results with it. And there's no restrictions on what you can eat :)

  • Hey I think I know what you mean. I'm actually the same height and weight as you, but I still carry some fat. So I assume what you mean is that you are "skinny fat"? This is really common! As the above poster recommends it's now all about changing your body composition - losing fat, while gaining muscle to give you that…
  • Hey Shelly! I lost all my weight in my 30's - wish I'd tried in my 20's!! It's still doable! Are you following a plan at all, or just counting cals with MFP?
  • Have you looked at IIFYM (If it Fits Your Macros) - I think it would be great for you. It gives you a breakdown of the macronutrients (protein, fat and carbs) that you need to reach your goals.

  • You have done so, so well already! Don't quit now! I know it can be hard to fit in exercise when you are busy, but remember that weightloss is 80% nutrition, so even if you don't work out at all, you will still lose weight. So do what you can!
  • I friended you :)
  • You can totally do this! My Fitness Pal is a great resource! Has your doctor given you any advice about diet and exercise?
  • Hey, it's tough sometimes to see the end goal! And don't be so hard on yourself, you have a busy life with two kids and a big man kid to look after ;) You have done so well so far to lose 5lbs in about a month. That's steady progress!! What helped me was breaking down my total weight that I wanted to lose into smaller…
  • Hi Barbara, Your trip sounds amazing!! I hope you enjoy yourselves. When eating out just try to make smart choices - go for salads, lean meat, veggies and don't be afraid to ask the server to customize your meal e.g. no butter, or dressing on the side. I lost weight myself on Weight Watchers a few years ago. My Fitness Pal…
  • 1.6 pounds off a week is a healthy amount to lose. I know you must be frustrated, and you just want the weight gone, but remember you didn't gain the weight overnight, so it's not going to come off overnight. On the bright side though, the more gradually you lose weight, the easier it is to keep it off forever! Stick at…

  • If you ladies are interested, I'm part of a 5 day abs challenge group on Facebook starting on Monday. It's a great group of ladies who are supporting each other through 5 days of clean eating and exercise. Could be great motivation for those of you who want some accountability from others :) If you want to join the group,…

  • As long as you are eating in a deficit you will lose weight without any form of exercise.
  • Or just visit Bodybuilding.com for a good breakdown of lifts and form
  • I'd recommend either 5x5 stronglifts (they have a great app) which focuses on big lifts like squats, deadlifts, chestpress and overhead press, or some of the Beachbody workouts like BodyBeast of P90X. I've had a lot of success with both.
