Hey! I'm just starting out as a coach and would be happy to help you. I've been working out at home for a long time. I'd also recommend looking online for workouts. I do P90X quite often, and I understand it might be intimidating if you are new to exercise. Have you looked at any of the other Beahchbody workouts? Maybe…

I mean you fast for a period every day, but not a whole day. So say you have an 8 hour eating window every day, you would eat between 12-8pm or 1-9pm, so for the other 14 hours of the day you are fasting. It means that the majority of your fast is overnight too! Or you can have a 4 hour eating window, so you would eat from…

I've been doing weights, and 5x5 stronglifts while eating in a deficit and I've had some great newbie gains! I've definitely added muscle to my arms - they are way more defined. But I think I'm going to stall from now on. I'm still cutting - I'm still wanting to shift stubborn fat too. But hope to try a slow bulk after the…

No I've never done 5:2, but I did get good results with intermittent fasting. That's eating within a smaller window each day - you can have a 4,6 or 8 hour window. So you still eat at a calorie deficit every day, but you eat within a smaller window. Easier to stick to than a full day of fasting.

Hey Jenni - you are a similar start weight to what I was, and my goal was 9stone. Don't bother with quick start plans. Consistency is the key to successful weight loss. So start tracking with MFP and see if you can get some exercise in. You will soon start to see the weight come off. Remember, the slower and steadier you…

Don't worry about breathing technique. You're still alive, so you've been doing it right all these years ;) I know what you mean though, there's so much focus on breathing techniques in different programs (in through the nose, out through the mouth is the method I see most often). But as long as you are getting enough…

Hey all, I was in exactly the same situation as you. I reached my goal weight a few years ago and have managed to keep the weight off ever since. I had a number on the scales that was my goal, and I stopped eating in a deficit when I got there. Problem was, as a lot of you are finding, I was still skinny fat! So about 3…

I'm sorry you lost your Mom. My sympathies. Best of luck to you on your new journey! Lots of support on here. Feel free to add me as a friend if you would like a cheerleader

I love P90X! That's a lot of protein, where did 300g come from? Best low fat, high protein food is egg whites. You can buy them in cartons on their own and use them with whole eggs to make scrambled eggs or omelets. You can also eat: - Chicken - Fish - Non-fat cottage cheese - Beans and pulses All are low in calories and…

-Take it one day at a time - Plan your meals and snacks in advance so that you know you can stay within your allocated calorie allowance - Weigh and track everything you eat - Join in with the community on here so that you can get the emotional support you need (you've started on this one) - but make some friends who can…

I'm another one who gets super emotional after a tough workout - I'll cry at movies, tv shows, ads, cats on the internet! Funny isn't it! My husband is worse than me!!
-
Hi Kat, I'm Cat too, but with a 'C' Feel free to add me if you want support along your journey. Best of luck with your weight loss - you got this!!

I'm not suggesting anything until we know how many calories she's on currently, how she's tracking her food, how long she's been on the plan and what, if any exercise she's doing. My whole point is you can't give out advice without knowing key pieces of information.
-
Good luck! Do you have a lot to lose?
-
A myth? No, you can gain weight from new muscle. But you need to be eating a calorie surplus, and weight training to gain muscle.
-
We don't know how many cals she's on currently. She might only be on 1200 or something (as I see on here so often when people want to drop weight fast) so lowering them would be unadvisable.
-
Lower her cals? We don't know if she's tracking her current cals properly yet.

Yes! I wish I'd started earlier. I spent my 20's overwight, but lost weight as I turned 30. I'm now 36 and have spent the last 6 years at t healthy weight and I'm so much happier and more confident. I'm also now a workout junkie, and I used to cross the street to avoid the gym. I wish I'd made changes sooner.
-
Why are you trying to give up carbs?
-
Are you weighing your food and tracking everything? Do you do weight training?
-
Wow that magazine claims to beat aging, fat and cancer and increase happiness!
-
I'm only trying to lose a couple of pounds, I did the hard bit and lost 2 stone a while back and kept it off. Happy to help and motivate you all!
-
That looks like a wooden version of the Great Wall of China!
-
I was the same ( still am a bit) - I'm 5ft 4 and 122lb. I'm now doing 5x5 stronglifts - so squats, deadlifts, chestpress etc. with heavy weights. The program has a great free app. I'm losing fat and things are definitely tightening up from it. I still do cardio too.
-
I wouldn't really recommend it straight from the couch either. Props to those of you here who did!! It's hard. Really hard. And it might discourage you from exercising. But it's up to you and your character - if you are as hardcore as there maniacs on this thread ;) then go all in with Insanity. I'm really fit, and I avoid…

What do you like to eat? And what don't you like? They maybe we can give you some ideas

I'm British but living in the US. Will I do? I log every day :)
-
Feel free to add me too if you want some motivation. I'm on here every day and complete my diary daily. You can do this!

I lost weight doing WW. I was just getting started into a more healthy lifestyle and at the time I found it more accessible than full on calorie counting. Also for a lot of people having the accountability of going to a class and being weighed by another person really helps (I just did online). Now I prefer MFP and…
