I did it a year ago to get fit for basic training. It was great and I recommend it to get yourself started. I eventually was able to do more than they were asking so eventually you will to. I got my mom to use it as well and she loved it.

It could be anything shoe fit. The type of socks you're using thick vs thin(one running session I used different socks than usual and ended up with a blister never used those socks for running again). Or the way you run. (how your feet hit the ground)
