I think drinking straight vinegar might make me vomit, so if I did it after each meal . . . I might not ever have to worry about gaining weight (just losing my teeth and my will to continue living).
-
That's impressive. Wish I'd thought of that trick when my jaw was wired shut (I pretty much lived on root beer floats with an occasional Ensure to keep my parents happy).

At some point there has to be a mental/emotional control on over-eating if you're going to lose weight and maintain it. At least with weight loss surgery there is a (usually limited) forced stop on overeating that gives one a chance to work on the habits that led to weight gain in the first place. With this device, you…

Whaaaaaatttt? I'm equally skeptical that a device with an emergency release will be truly effective if someone needs to literally lock their jaw to keep from eating. Before I began counting calories, I had a few bouts with a liquid diet. One was forced (jaw wired post-surgery) and I lost twenty pounds, which I promptly…

Even if this is true, I think for many people it's that finding a pattern with meal size and timing that works well for them makes hitting their calorie goals easier. If I prefer eating later in the day (which I do), saving calories for the evening reduces the opportunity that I'm going to go above my calorie goal.

Can you share what directions you followed and what is incorrect?

Yep, top right on Android.

1 kg a week is really aggressive for your weight. That's probably why you're struggling.
-
I have no idea. Have you entered your goals and stats into MFP to get a reasonable calorie goal? I'd start there, monitor progress for a few weeks, and then adjust as necessary.
-
Well, people who go through repeated cycles of undereating, regaining, and undereating sometimes find that weight loss gets harder and harder. Why? You're losing unnecessarily large amounts of muscle when you're undereating. You're putting your body through stress again and again, regaining body fat while not recovering…

The ingredients say they're using olive oil. If it's lower calorie, they just aren't using much. One thing I discovered is that I don't NEED to use as much cooking oil as I thought I did. I frequently saute vegetables in just a teaspoon or two of oil. If I'm adding enough other flavors, I'll skip the oil completely and…

You can eat better than you were and still not be in a calorie deficit. Some people are able to go through their whole weight loss while doing rougher estimates of portions, while others find that they need to introduce more accurate measurement at some point (I was in this camp). Weight is going to be the most accurate…

Maybe I'm just oblivious but when I hear someone praising a body type that is different than mine, I don't feel shamed. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with non-thick women, it just means that humans can find a variety of forms attractive.
-
Yes, I have no idea what is going on with that particular individual, but it's not at all uncommon for people with disordered eating or fitness routines to feel like they're being "shamed" for wanting to be slender. It's sort of like how some addicts will feel like their drinking is normal, but everyone is just being too…

I had no idea who she was, so I googled her. Unless she's recently gained a lot of weight, there's no way that she could be considered obese.

How long were you on 2,500 without losing? When done appropriately, macro counting is just a more involved way to count calories (as fat, carbohydrates, and protein all have a certain amount of calories per gram). Some people prefer it because they find that specific macro goals either make it easier for them to hit their…

I've been slender since 2015. I guess this is the sort of thing that will vary according to your social circle and family structure, but I've never gotten any criticism for being slender or regularly exercising, while I know it's routine for obese people to get all sorts of unwanted criticism and comments on their weight.…

Exactly - I don't agree with her on a lot of things, but she's clearly troubled and I hope things get better for her. I think of it like this: if I know someone's triggers and I deliberately ignore what I can do to help, I'm the jerk. If I'm running a business and someone comes in and is triggered by my product . . . well,…

There is no set schedule. You get to decide how much you want to reduce your weekly deficit and how often. Your body doesn't recognize the concept of a "cheat day." If you eat enough to cancel out your deficit (which some people can easily do in a day), then you'll see your results impacted accordingly.

Where I live (Minnesota), it seems like 70-80% of customers have stopped wearing masks, but most people working in grocery stores and other businesses are still wearing them.

As an American, reading this is WILD.

This was a hard one for me to wrap my head around. I hate food waste. What clicked for me is that calories I don't need are "wasted" whether I eat them or throw them away. While it's worth it to go over my calories for something that's really special, if I'm eating things just to eat them and having to either deal with…

Even if one believes that reality television is heavily edited and constructed, I don't think there's any evidence that the show doesn't involve actually obese individuals who manage -- through a variety of methods on- and off-camera -- to achieve substantial short-term weight loss. In that sense, it's "real." It's not a…

What did you put as your goal for weight loss per week? That will heavily influence your calorie goal.
-
Have you checked your food entries for inaccuracies? This is the typical cause of calorie/macro mismatches -- you've got a database entry somewhere that isn't right.

Most labels that list in "pieces" will also include a weight in parenthesis for reference. If your label doesn't have weight, you should be able to search for a label online that includes the information (I just looked and found one for M&Ms). You can then find a database entry with the weight and log it that way. The…
