Going as low carb as you can may be helpful. http://annals.org/article.aspx?articleid=717451 However, as dbmata said, if you are doing lots of high intensity stuff, you wouldn't want to lower your cab intake too too much. In that instance, cellular (whole food) carb choices would be the best alternative (as per the article…

Yes, thanks that's the one that sticks out in my mind too. Like I said I'm fully aware of evidence for and against and I appreciate you dialoguing this way rather than your first response. Thanks again.

I know there is debate and literature supports both views (existence and nonexistence). If you wouldn't mind posting the literature you are going by? If not, that's fine too. I just like making discussions literature-based as much as possible. Having access to more studies (that support or refute) is always a good thing.

Hey, chocolate is one non-whole food I make room for too! I did find studies that show health benefits in high precentage chocolate, yet I don't think you'd find a cacao bar just sitting there in the wild. That's why I don't like these strict "camps" and dieting definitions. the overall trend is probably more important.

Is the unicorn grass fed and finished? If it is, let me know where I can get some.

And would a non-diabetic person (with as you say normal glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity) benefit from this? Maybe, maybe not. But the point I take away from this is that by going easy on carbs and calories (and dampening insulin), you are actually making the cure the prevention. For me it's like insurance. So you…

Oh ok, no worries, but I still should have given a more elaborate response. May have been more helpful than what I originally said.

I just posted on the low carb angle today. I'm actually not just all about the low carb - I just saw some recent threads on MFP and just posted in response. Certain people do have different carb tolerances. Just because there is SOME wisdom to be gleaned from it I decided to contribute with some articles, but you make a…

Agreed. And I would have articulated it the same way... except I had to use fewer words for the title of the thread. I figured "real food" would light a smaller fire than say.... "clean eating" LOL I dunno! Just a hunch!

To clarify, this is a video of an internist presenting at medical grand rounds in a hospital. While I am not citing science, he is. He walks you through some of the relevant literature. And he presents actual cases of patients he treated. Some people could find that helpful. I never declared that this post itself was a…

Certainly, and those are all great points. I should have elaborated more (I just typed in a rush), but I actually appreciated Eric's Metaanalysis post. I have seen that Metaanalysis before and I looked into a lot of the articles that they referenced a while back. I liked some and didn't like others. But to clarify, not all…

I hear you. It's just the overall picture that is interesting. That's why I called it "some" evidence. It's got limitations. Just food for thought.
-
It doesn't. I didn't approve of the judgement part. I should have clarified. The article was supposed to address the title of the thread, not the subject matter of the original post.

OP. here is motivation in answer to your question http://www.nature.com/ejcn/journal/v63/n8/full/ejcn20094a.html

Yeah a few are in there. It sucks that the good studies got averaged with the bad.

Cool. Thanks. Interesting review. I was hoping you have some reviews for these as well. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12679447 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15148064 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20679559 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20962315 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21122698…

Yeah, most of the links I have are in journals that require subscription so I can just post abstracts, however, many people here seem to be in university or in some field of research, so their university web portals should grant them access.

To answer OP's question. Yes, it is possibly worth it http://annals.org/article.aspx?articleid=1900694 Again, someone please tell me how to post PDFs and I can give you the full article.

In line with the article I just posted. http://annals.org/article.aspx?articleid=1900694 But again, I'd love to know how to post PDFs on this site. If anyone knows, please share.

I know links can be posted, but PDFs cannot it seems. Unless I'm missing something.
