Honestly, what you've just described there sounds an awful lot like what I went through when I was struggling with a binge eating disorder. I could easily consume more than 5000 calories in a single sitting. I wasn't hungry. I just wanted to feel better. I would for a minute, but then I'd feel worse and we'd start all over…

I do everything at home as well! Currently only able to walk and do some very light strength training, but I set myself up a little nook and have at it!

I still think OP's goal is totally reasonable- as @ninerbuff stated, she's aiming to lose 20-ish pounds in 4 months which is more than doable. If it works for you, great! I've never tried it, so as I said, I think for me it wouldn't be helpful. Never claimed it wouldn't work for anyone!

I can't really do much in the way of exercise lately myself but I walk a tremendous amount. I also love yoga (can't at the moment) and am starting a pilates class soon. As other posters have said, weight loss is mostly diet, for me the exercise part is as much for my mental health as my physical health.

You know, I never thought of it this way. I've always set my weight loss goals in 10-pound increments. I think I would probably feel immense pressure if I used timelines as goals as well. Thanks for sharing this!

I think it's about finding what works for you. I've done both and had success with both. I just find using MFP more convenient and discrete than paper tracking.

Totally reasonable goal! You can do it!

This weekend is a long holiday weekend here for us. We have plans to eat out Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. My regular daily calorie allowance is about 1700 calories, so this week I've been sticking to closer to 1500 knowing full well that I will be eating closer to maintenance over the weekend so that gives me a little…

Oh boy. A shorter list would be foods that I don't like. Some of my go-to foods:* Soups (sweet potato is a favourite) * Curries * Tacos (I will often just have mine as a salad on a giant bed of lettuce rather than in a wrap) * Fish (try cooking it in parchment paper packets) * Anything I can grill in the summer to avoid…

I work the foods I love into my calorie allowance. Some days I eat at maintenance, but I usually aim for a deficit. For me if I want to be successful in the long run, I have to get out of that "cheat" mindset.

I have the Alta and I love it. No HRM, but I'm not too concerned with that. It also doesn't track "flights climbed" or altitude change, so there's that as well. I love the reminder to move (that's very necessary for me) and I love that I can set it to get text and call notifications. It's slim and discrete as well.

I use an app similar to Sarah's. I too get very frustrated with the daily ups and downs but find great satisfaction in the overall downward trend. For example, My weight has been within a 2-pound range this week, but overall, I weigh 1.4 pounds less today than I did last Wednesday. Weight loss definitely isn't linear, it's…

My goal for today is to hit 25,000 steps. My goal for this week is to eat within my calorie allowance every day. My goal for this month is to lost 6 pounds. 4 down!

It's great that you have that motivation!

Hello there. While my injury is not nearly as severe as yours, I'll tell you a bit about my story! In 2009, I herniated 3 discs in my lower back. I was off work for ages, and gained back quite a bit of the weight I had dropped after my son was born. I've lived with chronic neuropathic pain since then. I'm waiting for…

I'll be honest, I often don't. I track everything, and that is what is truly my motivation, when I see that I've well exceeded my daily allowance. It's bound to happen now and then, for me the more important part is logging it and learning from it. Then the next time, I at least think twice. I also find that moving more,…
-
Oh totally. What if I get to goal and am still unhappy? What if it's not the weight that's holding me back?

Multi-disc herniation. By far, worse than gallstones and unmedicated childbirth.

Yuck. Hummus

Yes that can definitely be a challenge, our lane swims book up really fast here.

Have you tried swimming?

1. Yes, I have experienced people asking me what's wrong, etc if I moderate portions when out for a meal or decline an alcoholic beverage or skip the appetizers. 2. I don't feel the need to explain my food choices to anyone. I usually just either ignore or brush off comments. If someone is really insistent I'll laughingly…

Are you currently at your goal weight, or are you still overweight?

Definitely this. Weight loss isn't linear. I know a lot of people don't advocate daily weigh ins, but I do and I use an app called Happy Scale. It shows your trend over time and draws a line of best fit through your data points so it really shows that downward trending over time. Don't let this get you down, be consistent,…

For me, it was injuring my back for the third time. Being told I'm going to need surgery sucked. I know that getting the weight off is going to help. I just have to do it.
