  • I don't put much stock in timing of meals/restricting eating to certain times of the day. Most important thing is to make sure you're eating at a calorie deficit while still making sure you're fueling your body enough. I like to plan my meals a day or more in advance, portioning out my meals and snacks, and I usually end…
  • Welcome back! I've fallen off a few times before, but fortunately it's gotten easier to stay on track with each try. :) If you're eating whole foods and very few processed foods, I wouldn't be too concerned about the sugar. The macros refer to protein, carbohydrates and fat. I shoot for 50% protein, 30% carbs (mostly from…
  • Great job losing what you have so far! As a mom, I've kind of hidden behind the baby, who's no longer a baby at almost 4. No more. Got tired of just going through the motions in life. Sent you a friend request! :)
  • Sent you a friend request. :) Welcome back! This is also my do-over. It gets easier the longer I do it; the trick is being diligent. And patient. Congrats on the 7lb loss!
  • I can relate to you in that I struggle with my relationship with food. Still, after working so hard to improve my nutrition this year, I find myself emotionally eating or feeling like I can't stop eating. It's getting better, but it's definitely a daily struggle. One day at a time.
  • Hi Nikki! I added you; I need to feel like I'm not the only crazy one...I have a 3-year-old daughter, so I can relate. ;)
  • Welcome! I sent you a friend request. :)
  • Thanks! Good luck to you as well! :) Any way you look at it, moving more and eating well (and in moderation) should yield great results over the long-haul. You do what you can with what you have and forget all the rest. :)
  • How inspiring! Congrats! I was overweight when I became pregnant and 4 years later I'm finally getting back to a healthier lifestyle. My kiddo is the biggest reason for getting my act together. :)
  • Congrats on the new baby! Proud of you for making the choice to make a life-long habit; having kids makes you re-evaluate life. It did for me, at least. :) I started this year with a goal to lose 80 lbs. I'm halfway there, but like Steve, I've broken it down into much smaller goals. I sent you a friend request!
  • Awesome first step, reaching out for support and encouragement! I am half way to my goal weight; I had 80 pounds to lose when I started my journey in January. I sent you a friend request. :)
  • Congrats on your newest addition! You're off to a great start seeking support. :)
  • Kudos for making the decision to do something about how you feel! Weight is just a number, but how you feel about yourself is everything! I hope you find the support and encouragement you need to succeed!
  • Sent you a friend request! :)
  • I'm a full-time working mom of a 3-year-old. And YES, it is so challenging to get in the workouts or meal plan and prep when you feel like you have just enough energy to deal. But we all have to start somewhere and the fantastic part is that after some time and consistency, you start to have a little more energy. The…
  • It sounds boring, but planning and consistency. I plan my week's meals in advance and prepare lunches for the work week so I know exactly where I'll be calorie- and macro- wise if I stick to the plan. Even if I'm not as consistent with my workouts that week, if my nutrition is locked in, I'm still losing close to 2 lbs…
  • Welcome, Shelley! I think every pound I've lost so far was stubborn... :) My goal weight is the close to yours: 135. I hope you'll find the encouragement and support you need to hit your goals! *I sent you a friend request*
  • Think of those photos as your "before" pictures. The only thing to be mortified of is if you stay where you're at. You know you're ready, now take those next steps: get your nutrition in check and start moving more. In addition to MFP, I have a fantastic (free) resource for support and accountability on Facebook. Learning…
  • Nice to meet you all! I've got 40 more pounds to my goal weight...finally got around to taking care of myself and my "baby" will be 4 this year. I had weight to lose before becoming pregnant, so I've already gotten lower than pre-baby weight. Hoping to hit my goal by her birthday (12/27). Good luck all!
  • Truth! The most important thing is that you find a nutrition plan that is sustainable. Eat foods that you enjoy (maybe not super healthy) but balance them with healthy stuff. Do you utilize the macro pie chart in the nutrition section of MFP?
  • Hi, Sharie! Terrible cook here. :) I can relate to you in many ways...we should be friends!
  • I'm inspired by you're willingness to take this challenge head-on. Everyone has different obstacles to overcome on the path to better health and fitness. Do you have a good support system of family or friends to help you push through?
  • I see the changes; great job! Building muscle is a good way to help burn more fat. Can't wait to see what progress you'll make!
  • Hi Rachel! I think it's great that you want to do this the right way. It's not easy, but it's worth it! I sent you a friend request. :)
  • Welcome! I sent you a friend request. :)
  • Welcome back! I was the same way...joined My Fitness Pal, didn't utilize it much, gained weight, got fed up and then starting using this helpful tool. :)
  • The more friends, the better! It's great that you're actively seeking motivation. FR sent!
  • Boy, do I know how you feel! Of the many times I started and quit, 15 lbs was my max loss and I got comfortable or gave up all together because I wasn't seeing the results as quickly as I wanted. There's nothing worse than the feeling that you have to start all over again. I'm coming to realize that this isn't just eating…
  • I agree with JustMe2691; get in the habit of tracking calories. Once you've got that down, you can focus on how those calories break down between protein, carbs, and fat, and set a goal ratio for those macros based on your goals. Like with me, I'm trying to lean out, so I shoot for a 50/30/20 ratio.
