I work next to an industrial bakery and smell freshly baked bread all day long. I don't even like bread that much, but the smell makes me want some! And that is my opinion on bread. Anything can fit in a healthy diet if you make room for it.

I use leftover lunch meat containers, they usually hold about 2 cups. They stack well and come out much better than Ziplocs.

Bought new pants in size 16—down from 16W, but it's a change! I *might* could have gone to a 14, but I would have been self-conscious. My favorite black dress fits again without me looking like a stuffed sausage. The only bummer is I don't have to get a new dress. I bought a new skirt and could have gotten the L, but went…

I am usually nauseous in the morning, so I skip breakfast entirely and have a large cup of ice water to wake up and refresh. Sometimes, if I wake up hungry, I have a single fried egg (~90 calories [7.5% daily calories]). I like lunch fine enough but only get a 30 minute break, so I eat 25-40% of my calories then. (210-480)…

@slieber Ha! I am 24. None of that fun for me yet (though my mom is going through it, and I've heard your experience will be like your mother's... yikes!). I guess to update everyone, I kind of freaked when I put this post up, but it just turned out to be spotting, nbd. I think it's a combo of losing weight + new meds +…

Thanks, allergic and fuzzipeg (and thanks for the advice editorgrrl, I'm an editor myself :)). Up until this month my cycles have gone basically back to 28 days, which is good. This is the only month so far that it has been a bit weird. I'll give them a call and see what they say. Thank you!

This is exactly what happened to me. I was an athlete (dance) who practiced three times per week with competitions on the weekends and gym class at school 5 days per week. So, lots of running, jumping, leaping, and bodyweight strength training. What actually tipped my doctor off to my thyroid condition was that I suddenly…

Wow, thanks for the info everyone! I stand corrected. I still think that the OP should track their symptoms and how they feel. Some people just react differently to the different drugs and it does take some patient advocacy to try switching meds and seeing how that feels in comparison. :)

Because Armour is made from natural thyroid, it is actually quite difficult to ensure there is a consistent level of hormone in each pill. So, you may have a prescription for 75 mg, but in reality the pills in the bottle range from 73-77 mg. That does not affect everyone the same way; some people are fine with a slight…

I used to take Armour (for years) and was recently put back on levo (Synthroid) because Armour was doing jack diddly for me. My doctor did say it was probably a dosing issue. I would say keep an eye on your symptoms while taking Armour until your next endo appointment. If you feel an improvement, awesome! If you don't feel…

I also have Hashimoto's and am quite overweight ;), by multiples of 25 lbs., making a 1-1.5 lb loss within that range! I think the important thing for us all to remember is that it's not a race and you can live a healthy, active, and happy life no matter your weight. The excess weight hinders that a little, as does the…

This is what happened to me. My dose is finally right to make my metabolism somewhat "normal" and so I have lost weight. My pre-treatment calorie levels were too high for my metabolism then, but they are now at a deficit. I signed up for MFP to increase that deficit and lose a little faster. I don't lose at the rate MFP…

It is a little disturbing how variable the information out there is! I take mine before I get in the shower and don't eat/drink until I'm done getting ready for the day, which takes about 1/2 hour. This has worked for me, as I rarely eat anything for breakfast and rather have a big cup of tea (with some honey and cream, so…

Whoops! Double post!

Hi everyone! I have used MFP off and on for about 2 years. I was first diagnosed with hypothyroidism 8 years ago, when I was 16, after I rapidly gained 30 pounds despite not changing my eating habits and being very active. I lived 7 years on what I now know were way too low doses of hormone and just kept gaining weight,…
