I'm convinced she is a troll account. She posts this same type of stuff so much, I recognize her name and know what she is gonna ask before I click into the thread.

I will be 43 here in a few months. I dropped 90+ lbs, have maintained it (give or take 10-12 lbs that come on and off around the holidays. I am in the best shape of my life. I am active on MFP both in support and logging (open diary). Feel free to add me.

So much this. I loathe a traditional gym. I found right type of activity for me - something I love and it has made all the difference in my fitness journey.

This is awesome. Congrats!

So I forgot to check in yesterday. Did kickboxing class which helped some technique issues. My kicks will never be one one would consider in the realm of pretty, but I do need them to be effective for what I nes them to do - help manage distance and set up other techniques. Afterwards I did the biathlon portion of the…

My slow healing rib still means no BJJ which is really bumming me out. I didn't train and stand up either yesterday, but I did do 20 k on my bike for the first time. One of my MMA training partners are looking toward doing a sprint triathlon this summer, for fun. Nothing will ever replace combat sports, but my injury has…

Sounds like a heck of a workout!

I agree, there is probably a distinction, especially regarding intent and approach as well as the mores of the particular Gym.
-
In some gyms it is seen as disrespectful to ask a higher belt to roll - you are to wait for them to ask. Other gyms are less formal - ours is the latter. I will ask the brown belts or black belts including my Coaches to roll. Our Coaches expect us too. They also say to be wary of BJJ black black belts that won't roll…

5k and then some weighs at noon Boxing class at 6pm and then sparring at 7. I sampled (well over sampled) some cupcakes for a benefit at work. At least I earned them today.

For IBJJF Master's Worlds I dropped a full weight class down - 14lb difference. I was having problems with the last 4 or so lbs - I know now I was retaining water. I made weight (weigh-ins were about and hour before your first match). I was not too too dehydrated, but I certainly wasn't at my best. Would I make the same…

Conditioning today. 4K run and then 5k bike ride.

Amateur MMA (cage) fight early next year at 43 years old.

By a food scale. Religiously logg and be honest. Eat at a deficit. You will lose weight. How quickly you do depends on how much of a deficit you maintain. It's simple. (It's just not easy). -down 90+ lbs and in the best shape of my life at almost 43.

This literally is often the way I control my late night grazing desires. I force myself to go to bed early - which has other health benefits obviously.
-
Gentleman, feel free to add me. I am more or less on maintenance, depending on whether I have an athletic event upcoming and I need to drop a few lbs for weight class reasons. I am almost 43 and dropped over 90lbs with use of this app for diet and exercise. I am very active and my diary is open.

Stop beating yourself up over it and climb back on the wagon today. Dwelling on it does nothing for you. You can do it.

I have a number of longer term friendship just kind of fade away. We just didn't have much in common anymore. Most of my friendships now start at the gym and those people I train with 90% of the time are the people I spend my time with socially. I think it's a natural profession when one makes drastic lifestyle changes.

Boxing class. Nothing overly exciting just trying to improve technique basics.
-
Me too. I have a little success but most people have grown tired of my constant droning on about it on my FB. That's why recently I started an IG to move Fitness -and especially BJJ related stuff -there. My friends that dont train, really don't get. (I'm ashamed to say that some friendships including some that were a…

Congrats! Awesome work! It feels good to compete even better to win!

Didn't get any MA training in, but did some HIIT with the 12 minute athlete app and the ran 5k and some change.
-
I think people naturally gravitate to one thing or the other even when training both striking and grappling. I train both, but normally vast majority of the time I am training grappling. You flip-flop amounts of training time and I still don't think my striking would ever catch up with my grappling. I inately feel more…

Kickboxing class and then some boxing sparring with one of our pro fighters. For being a straight killer in the cage, he is a heck of a nice guy.
-
Absolutely! I bet you will kick butt. 44 is the perfect age to do it!
-
I find that my biggest problems with TDs - specifically off of a shot for a double leg, is find that sweet spot between a good shot where the knee just skims the ground and accidentally driving the knee into the mat. Almost 5 years later that is still an issue for me - hence why I gravitate toward arm drags and more clinch…

Do it! I will be 43 in a few months and I enjoy competing. I started BJJ three months shy of my 38th birthday and competed in the white belt divisions within my first 4 months - didn't do so well but it was a great experience. I try to compete st least 4 times a year. I find it is a great way to put what you know to the…

Are we talking Gi or NoGi?

Strength and conditioning today. Then boxing class. And then some mitt work. Coach help tightened up some of my technique which is always a good thing. All in all a good day training I think

I second the epsom salt baths and stretching post-training.
