  • My DH broke his toe. We paid 1000.00 for a crappy shoe. When I dropped a 45 plate on my foot not too long after I just kept off it for a while and it healed fine. I did continue cycling because I wear spin shoes and didn't have pain, but I stopped running for at least a month.
  • I spin and could never eat beforehand. Mostly I exercise at 5:15, so it makes sense not to eat, but I won't even when I take a later class.
  • I started getting up at 4am when I joined a new gym and they wanted $6/day for childcare. That's $30/week, on top of my monthly dues. Too rich for my blood. (I was paying $5/month at previous gym. Now that I've been doing it for more than a year I love it. I get there around 4:40, I run a little, take a spin class. It's…
  • 2x a week for 12 weeks really isn't that much. I run 20 minutes a day / 5 days a week and it took me more than 6 months to see good progress. And sometimes you don't notice your progress until you get much better. Just keep running.
  • I spin 5 days a week and lift heavy m,w,f. The lifting has really made a big difference in my body.
  • I wouldn't wait too long before your next class, you want to get your backside used to the saddle. That'll take around 3-4 classes. Just take the class easy, do what you can. I spon 5 days a week, but I've been spinning for years.
  • I tried eating it plain for the protein for a while. Blech! I switched to full fat cottage cheese. But I don't like honey or other sweeteners.
  • Eggs are great, don't worry about the cholesterol
  • I would smile at her and be grateful for another woman in the weight room.
  • It's all mental. I always say when your brain says stop you need to say "NO!" at least three times. My brain wants to give up long before by body. I may or may not have shouted it ince or twice in the gym. And the first 10 minutes are always the worst. Once I get past those I'm fine.
  • I get up early to run and bike. I don't eat until my workout is done. I would feel sick if I ate beforehand.
  • I get up at 4am to work out most weekdays. I love it. I love the stillness of the morning. I love seeing the sun rise on my way out of the gym. I love being done with my workout before many people are even out of bed. I get all my clothes ready the night before. I usually wake up around 3:30, I guess I've been waking up…
  • Really, the best way to lose weight is with Tabata type cardio and lifting. I do Body by Design, found on bodybuilding.com. But any lifting program you like and will do is good. I also encourage you to pay a trainer for a few sessions, just to be sure about form. Or even a BodyPump class if you're at a gym. But don't stay…
  • Why wouldn't you just go to bed if you're tired? I used to snack after putting the kids to bed, too. I started brushing and flossing my teeth right after dinner. I'm generally lazy and don't want to have to do it again, so I wouldn't eat. After a month or so I'm no longer hungry at that time. Maybe you're just used to…
  • You don't NEED to exercise to lose weight. Just count your calories. I lost 30 pounds after the birth of my oldest without exercising, just eating high protein, lower carb, high fiber.

  • If you do cycle be sure to pedal from the ball of your foot, rather than the arch. Pedaling from the arch strains the plantar.
  • I work out really early and vigorously, eating beforehand would make me feel sick. I prefer to grab some protein when I get home.
  • I run intervals on the treadmill. 4 minute warm up, 3 minute run, 1 minute all out sprint, 1 minute walk, 3 minute run, 1 minute sprint, 1 minute walk, 3 minute run, 1 minute sprint, 2 minute walk, done. My runs are at 7.0, sprint is 7.5, walk is 3.5 because short stubby legs, you can change to match your fitness level.
  • I'm at the gym by 4:45 am, my workout is fasted, too.
  • I wear a heart rate monitor to my spin class. I'm 5'4", 145. I do 80 minutes, high intensity with some warm up and cool down. My HRM logs me at 900 calories which is around an average of 11 calories per minute. I would think that your calories for a 45 minute class would be 300-400 calories. And yes, there is NO WAY that…

  • I love the Danskin Now underwire bra. It's for high intensity and my girls could use all the support they can get.
  • Please get cycle shoes, especially if you're spinning 2-3x a week. Spin shoes clip into the pedal so that the ball of your foot is resting on the pedal rather than the arch of your foot (which may be breaking down the support). They are also very rigid and stiff, which eliminates the tendency to over pronate your foot,…
