I go on the way home from work; I know that once I got in I wouldn't be able to prize myself out again. I don't overthink it, I just do it and that is habit forming.

I find it a useful way of monitoring how much "damage" I am likely to have done when I go off plan, like this Friday when a colleague threw me a leaving party; if it would take me 5 weeks to get to x, 1 night is unlikely to be a problem.

30 years married today - and both smaller and fitter than I was then.

I feel that I "binged" today, but it consisted of an extra large bowl of fat free yoghurt. Binges have been worse, yes?

Talk to someone professional in the field. My totally unqualified guess would be that stretching is going to come into it somewhere. Also, welcome. :)

You are exactly where you were before, making exactly the same progress. The facts haven't changed, just some numbers on a scale. Don't be disheartened. Keep going; you are doing brilliantly.

I love this feature; it enables me to see clearly how much leeway I can give myself at weekends through weekday control.

and I've always walked away because I'm afraid I'll like it too much[/quote] That is what I should have done - not spread it on delicious bread with honey.

I think many of these are unavailable in England; perhaps I should be grateful.

What have I started?

I don't think I dare.

I am making it fit, but I won't buy a 2nd jar.

Everyone has been so great about my weight loss that there can be no going back - though next term I start at a new school where they don't know the old me. Still not going back, though.

Today I bought two swimsuits - not bikinis; I have never been that girl and 52 is a bit late to start - and they both look good. I need not be ashamed by the pool with the Canadian half of the family this Summer.

You aren't stupid. You have seen something work before and aren't sure another method will. Stick with it and it will, then you will have two successful patterns on which to draw.

You won't know for sure till you give it a fair try.

Thank you, all. kshama 2001, your 2nd set of figures is the specific information I had in mind. I understand that no one size fits all and that we all need to find what works for us. This seems a good starting point.

Thanks. What I am looking for is a specific and particular set of numbers which I have previously seen posted but can't currently find. 'Should' is not a term which appears in my OP. The point of the ratio for which I am looking is to provide guidance as to a weight loss rate which is likely to prove do-able.

Diet? Around these parts, most members are changing their lifestyles regarding food in order to have optimal long term results with weight loss/health. No quick fixes. Sure calorie wise it sounds fine. But will that get you by until the next meal? What happens when you come off the "diet?"'' I have an Actimel yoghurt drink…

Achievement. I CAN spell.

That is quite a walk; I did it at close to my biggest and can vouch for your achievment.

I think I am there; it's taken 5 months, but I think I now know how to maintain. Phew!

Too many people around me not living to draw their pensions and a significant family history of a condition exacerbated by excess weight.

I tried it but found it unreliable. That might have been user error, but it put me off.

When asked my method for weight loss I say " Eat less, move more - significantly less and considerably more!" It sounds a bit posey, though.

All things being equal, it's better not to be fat. All things are rarely equal, however, and sometimes being big can be the lesser of two or more evils. Things are never black and white; life isn't binary. We should stop getting hung up and intrusive about the way other people live, keep our own houses in order and be…

Though if all your calories come from doughnuts, you will reach your calorie limit without reaching your nutritional requirements or satisfying your hunger.
