Tonight's program, build part 2 of the alarm record mail box, One of the other guys is going to paint it. That's a hoot. Although my sensitive firefighter ears were shocked.

It will be older than kerosene, but younger than me. Got the first coat of finish on tonight. it's looking good. Working on a project for the firehall. We need to have security on records, so I'm building a wall pass-thru and box for alarm reports so they can be slid through into the chief's office. Got the wall part made…

Yeah, it wasn't anything special when we got it back in the early 80's, but SWMBO likes it. I'll see if I can find a before picture to go with the finished one. It stained up really nice once I sanded the layers of Scandihoovian finish off.

Not yet, just ordered last night. Naturally I'm in the middle of sanding down and re-finishing an old Ikea table. I have a small cheap sander I'll try tonight, but I might kill it with actual work.

Kayak Carry Yoke Project I have several portages to do in my back-country trip in June, so I decided to make a canoe style carry yoke for my kayak. I designed it Friday night 24Feb17, and started building on Saturday 25Feb17. I verified the position of the center of gravity, i.e. the balance point to be 1" forward of form…

Designed a removable carry yoke for the kayak portages. I'll start building it out of ash tomorrow. The two side parts fit under the skirt rim. It should be compact enough to fit through a hatch into the cargo areas.

I used to make those using dryer lint and parafin for camping. They'll use it to light wood stoves at home. Both my son and oldest daughter's families use wood heat. The middle girl and her man don't as yet.

Full on man-cold. Spent yesterday doing nothing productive ( holiday here). I went into work this morning to do the pay entry for my shop and my environmental supervisor's shop ( day off for him). I stayed to chair the Emergency Planning meeting, the turned the OHS meeting over to my co-chair to run, and took my cold home.

Thanks for the comments. I remember that 'dumb Barbie' scandal. We raised two strong, independant minded daughters. They'd have had nothing to do with that sort of thing, and god help anyone who tried to treat them as second class citizens.

Ten hour day in the boat shop My little buddy couldn't make it today, so I worked on a few other projects. Our doll bunk bed and paddle carving will wait for the next time we're working together. I did all the detailed layout on both our paddles for the spokeshave work. Lots of finicky measurement and close tolerance…
