Pictures from outdoor exercise.
We all see some beautiful sights on our various runs, walks, bikes, paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, horses, mastodons. Here’s a thread where we can share some of these special places.

Retirement Projects
Some of us are lucky enough to be actually or semi retired. I'm presently retired for the second time (the first lasted two days) since May 20th, 2017. I'll likely go back to part time or a couple months on/off in the fall, but for now, I'm enjoying the first break excluding vacations in 41 years. I'm getting lots of long…

January 2022
Much like January 2021 but now with added variants!

It’s, like December, eh?
Stay the course. Those bad calories are in the wire and trying to over run us.

Fire VS. Police
A place for mutual disrespect in a fun way.

Fat man on a small bike. - a motorcycle/bicycle thread.
Some of us have steel horses, and likely don’t look as cool on them as we imagine. Here’s a thread for our toys and adventures.

Projects to keep me off the streets - Fire Department Table, Kayak
The new Chief (my successor after the wee heart attack thing) asked me to use my limited skills to make a table for the apparatus floor. Commonly known as the 'liar's table'. Many of us eat lunch and generally hang out there, and the present one is often quite crowded. I'm building a 4' by 10' heavy oak table which will…

What is your occupation, and what is your passion?
I got half of this idea from the main boards, the occupation part. I suspect many of us have an occupation to pay the bills, but have another activity or two we'd like to make a life doing, i.e. a passion. I'll detail my work life and my several passions I'd like to do for a living tomorrow. Let's all share both these…

Favorite vacation destination
In the spirit of new topics, here's one. My wife and I have been going to the same location for four years, Negril Jamaica. We've stayed at one or the other of side by each resorts on Bloody Bay. Nice, relaxed pace of life, two mile run in the morning on a crescent beach while herself sleeps in. Then we have breakfast…

I'm back baby!
It's been 17 months since I had an unexpected heart attack. I'm a volunteer firefighter (25 years), and got smoke inhalation on a major call, which caused a CO thickened clot to hit an unknown 95% blockage in a coronary artery the next day. I nearly bought the farm, ended up with one stent and a new focus on life. I…

The individual's responsibility in health care
This is a bit of a long read, but very interesting. Dr. John Ross is a very respected emergency room surgeon here in NS, with very forward thinking views. http://thechronicleherald.ca/opinion/1303865-dr.-john-ross-reboot-multi-tier-haphazard-‘disease-care’-system

Road Trip
I'm off for Cape Breton National Park in the morning. 5-6 hours in the saddle will get me to my base camp for two nights. Friday I'll ride the Cabot Trail, and either ride home Saturday, stay a third night, or take the ferry over to PEI where my wifey is volunteering at a kids camp.

Motorcycle therapy
put in 225 miles of fast secondary road two wheel therapy today. Six hours in the saddle. My Polar Loop measured 20,907 steps. I'll take it.

I can still out fire-fight most of those kids dammit.
I'm a 59 year old retired fire chief. (Volunteer, got a full time job too). I had an unexpected heart attack the morning after a big fire in February 2014. I was eating clean, 185 pounds, running 5K a couple times a week, but my genes simply did not care. I had a STEMI and ended up with one stent and a new birthday. I…
