Great dive pics. I’m off to Jamaica in a week. If I throw off this head cold I plan to do two dives a day. Otherwise, the rum stocks will take a big hit.

Welcome new folks. This is a great group.

It’s very enjoyable work. Four hours on a semi-dangerous piece of equipment was tedious and requires concentration, but once the materials are prepped, the building process provides instant gratification as the finished product appears. Once done, it will likely spend most days on the roof racks for every H2O opportunity.

Lots of progress on the canoe project. https://farback.ca/index.php/boat-shop/27-bear-mountain-redbird-canoe-2019 "Call me Dusty darling, everybody does" (fans of Little Britain will get the reference)

Still doing shop improvements to aid in the canoe project. Added a sled under the tale saw, and built an offcut table for it. This supports cut pieces and adds more safety. It's slotted for the guide rails of the mitre and crosscut sled, and has a big storage shelf. Still need to apply finish.

It’s a Bear Mountain Redbird, 17 foot wood strip. I’ll post progress pics and document the build on my website Farback.ca. Looking forward to getting some back-country time in this one this summer.

Major two full day shop cleanup and reorganization before I start the canoe build. I did a lot of research, bit the bullet and spent some serious change on an air filtration unit. It will arrive this week, and should make a large improvement is the air quality and my health.

Yeah, I have a toxicity chart of the woods I work with, and take a lot of precautions. Negative pressure ventilation for the shop, good 3M mask with both dust and VOC filters, on all the time tools run or handing/sanding stuff like this. I got the kukri from an estate sale, the same place I got the vintage tools. I think…

Thanks Wayne. I expect it will end up in my basement office, out of reach of the grandkids.

Purpleheart stand finished with Tung oil for my vintage Gurkha Kukri.

That is very cool, and it's great to see something you've built and gifted in use.

I've been looking at the new Canada Food Guide. It is a major departure from earlier industry influenced guides, and looks not only like the way I eat anyway, but excellent progress in my opinion. We may outlive "all of y'all" if everyone here adopts it.

Welcome to the group Anna. I agree with the others, it can be done. I’ve fone from 240 to 175.

Nice truck David. It looks like the old one served you well. I think I’ll be retiring the GTI this year and buying either a Toyota or Nissan truck. Second hand, too old for new vehicles unless I lease.

A bird’s eye maple dish for my modified fire dept locker to hold change and car keys.
-
Quick project to increase the functionality of my fire locker. Got a place to keep change, dry socks etc. The Chief has commissioned me to make a lot more, for whoever opts in. Made out of some leftover plywood, fits in existing space.

That sounds like a great volunteer job. I’ve been a diver for many years, but no aquarium here. I’d love to do this.

These identical looking beauties are actually cousins. One is my son’s, the other is my oldest daughter’s.

I considered a fancier joint, but made them the same as the picture my daughter sent asking if I could make them. All dimensions pulled out of thin air, no plans. Plus, these joints gave me a chance to use my Freud dada set on the new to me refurbished 1950’s saw.

Felt footies added, final sanding with fine steel wool and they're off to good homes.
-
Yeah, more positive topic.

Clothes racks completed today, and last top-coat of spar urethane on the book display unit. Once the racks are dry, I'll put stick-on felt feet and off to all the ladies these go.
-
Damn, that's unpleasant. We're in Jamaica in March. I should get 10 dives or so under my weight belt.
-
Had my young apprentice helping this morning, my oldest grandson, Tucker. I always called him 'little buddy'. that doesn't fit anymore.
-
Today I finished a larger table for my big bandsaw with a fence attachment, got first coat of stain on the bookrack, and started two three-section drying racks for my daughter and D-I-L.

Sorry for your loss Cavspider. It's a quick merciful way to go, there's that.
-
Interesting read Wayne. I agree, good habits are the practical way to go.

I’ve been busy in the workshop in between all night limo driving. Don’t know what day it is most of the time. 3 to 5 hour sleeps where I can get them. Anyway, I made my wife a display rack for her classroom a year of so ago. One of her teacher friends likes it a lot, so I was commissioned to build another. I can’t charge…
