I have just started cross training. Stupidly I did weights with heavy squats and then the same night a near pb on a 5k time. My legs were dead for my planned 10k on Tuesday. So I'm my limited opinion make sure you don't try to overdo either. I'm going for lifting m/w/f and run t/th/s or su. Using the other weekend day for…

The question is, do you bubble before pressing the tattoo?

Do you foresee your friends getting divorced and married again at any time in the future? This is probably and hopefully the only time you will go to this friends wedding. Therefore you need to enjoy it as much as possible. It's a wonderful thing to celebrate. So accept you are going to eat lots and probably drink lots. 1…

Quoted for truth. I would be much more concerned about taking water on a long run than I would about some energy beans or gels.

Please tell me how 1lb of muscle weighs more than 1lb of fat?

You need to open your diary to the public. Otherwise the response will be the generic: 1. You're eating to much 2. You need to improve your logging 3. You're overestimating calories burned during exercise

So you plan worked for your previously but yet here you are, trying to lose 100lbs. You don't put on 100lbs in a month, so your month long holiday isn't to blame. Perhaps going to multiple classes on the same time works for a bit but in the end you burn out and just stop going, hence being back in the position where you…

9. Don't rush your workout because of people trying to jump in on you sets. Take your planned rest between sets.

Continuing the one above. Made that 5 pulls ups today.

water weight. You weight from day to day can easily be +/-2lbs on the previous day. You should be concentrating on overall trends.

my missus always has an extra plain burger, so just the bun and the meat. It it beyond comprehension how hard McDonalds staff find this to understand. She does have the advantage that they have to make it "fresh" so hers is at least warm when she gets it.

I did this and then got asked to leave the John Lewis Home department.

4 very solid unassisted pull ups in the gym yesterday.

I'm going to assume that you have put all of details correctly in to MFP and have set a correct activity level. Make sure you select "Gain 1lb a week" as your target Eat that number of calories Then log your running, use a HR monitor if possible, if not start with 50% - 75% of the calories MFP says you burned. Eat that…

5:30 am to start the 2 hour commute to work!

Holm, any info to go with the eating different amounts on non-lifting days. Haven't seen that recommended in any of the bulking guides link in the beginners guide to bulking sticked on this forum

Sorry, probably not clear enough, I'm not trying to gain on a 5:2 style or anything like that. I'm aiming for a straight 2740 calories a day, 7 days a week. It is just that since Monday I haven't hit that number. So I was wondering if I should just eat back the missed calories tonight, or spread them out over the rest of…

People also need to remember to adjust their intake relative to their weight, the calories you consume at 200lbs to lose weight is more than the calories you will consume at 150lbs to lose weight. You lose weight but keep eating the same number of calories and that deficit gets smaller until you end up eating close to the…

Well done man. Also make sure you ask/tell your buddies that they are not allowed to give you a smoke if you ask for one. Also ask them to not offer you a smoke. That way the main temptation you have to avoid is buying them yourself. For the next week or so, unless you HAVE you carry cash or your cards, pre-prep all your…

Yes it works and it is the only way to lose weight. Every single diet (that actually works) is just CI < CO. A lot of them put a fancy façade on this but it's just CI < CO to lose weight.

5k a day! I'm just starting on gaining weight, at around 2.7k a day at the moment and am having to top up with protein shakes. I honestly couldn't imagine how much you have to eat to hit 5k a day! Hell, I'm not looking forward to my run this weekend because I'm going to have to hit at least 4k and I'm not sure I have the…

Instead of wondering if you should add all the variations on a slight stroll you may have during the day, why not just set MFP to "lightly active" only ever worry about logging actual exercise and go off the numbers it gives. Give yourself a month or so and see if you are still losing weight with it set like that. Save you…

I am so going to make this.

Why are you setting yourself up to fail? If what you are doing isn't sustainable going forever then at some point you are going to go back to the things you "enjoy" and you won't have made the change to knowing how much of those to eat to lose/maintain. There is no reason to do low carb unless you have been told to do so…

Thanks Psulemon. I think I know deep down that I can't put one above the other in terms of an ultimate goal, so I'm going to just have to commit the time and see how things are working out. I'll grab some hard gainer protein shake stuff to help me hit the surplus and see if I can rotate in a rest day around training plans.…

Great post. I have a bit of a question which goes across the whole cardio / strength work bit. To put it simply. I enjoy ultramarathons BUT I also want to over all increase my size and strength. I'm 5"7 and 150lbs. Next year I am looking at doing quite a few Tough mudder type events but will be running those along side a…

I think that was a double edged sword. She said on one page that people were correct and it was a waste of money and time and then something like 2 pages later she said she was going to do it any way. Remember reading the whole thread and being happy that someone "got it" then 2 pages later realising that they didn't.

Thank you for this. Such a good quote :)

Firstly, no your hard work isn't just going to turn in to fat because you take some rest days. Secondly and most importantly, you should look to speaking to a professional counsellor. This is not a dig or having a go at you, but you already acknowledge you struggle with body image and disordered thinking. So please…
