This article reminds me of articles from women's magazines, shallow and vague on the details, lacking scientific analysis and mostly full of conventional wisdom. I agree she is a pretty lady, but wonder how much of this article is true. It doesn't ring true to me. Maybe "true" isn't the right word, but I just don't believe…

I was going to suggest bone broth, I swear by it. I cook mine for 8-12 hours and get a very deep flavour that can be watered down when using if necessary. I freeze the finished product unseasoned in mason jars, and that way I can season according to the dish I am preparing. It's also useful when preparing soups such as…

Don't be afraid of the SCOBY, it won't hurt you, it will help you . You need it in order to make Kombucha. It is like the yeast when making bread. Kombucha is really easy to make because all you need is a large glass container, green or black tea, sugar and a SCOBY. Brew your tea, add sugar, stir it up, let it cool to room…

I get my meat directly from my farmers, so have access to the whole animal, but limit my extras to pigs' heads ( I make head cheese), pig and chicken feet and pork, beef and chicken liver, bones, and fat if I run out.

@nvmomketo , I find the Kerrygold to be brighter yellow in colour, with a fuller taste, maybe a bit saltier than average Canadian butter. I like it in my BPC, adds a nicer flavour. I buy a wide range of butters from many different places. We use butter a lot here. There is nothing wrong with the butter we can get here. I…

Hi fellow Canadian! I'm in Manitoba and I can't get Kerrygold here either. When we are south of the border in the USA, we pick some up to take home, but I find the price to be double that of regular salted butter. I use it to melt on top of eggs or meat, but mostly use butter from home for everyday use. I can find organic…

My news feed is two days behind on my phone and needs coaxing to update on my laptop.

Strong and black mostly. HWC when the coffee is old and crappy, and every now and then a BPC with egg, never any sweetener.

Count me in ! After a stressful past few months, I need to get back to basics again!

Luckily for me, my street is closed due to sewer renewal construction. I usually host Easter dinner, but there is nowhere for my guests to park, so dinner is off. I don't have to buy any treats! The candy dish has some Cadbury mini eggs in it for my daughter to nibble on. I will just make us a simple Easter dinner for us.…

That's wonderful ! Great that your doctor has direct knowledge of LCHF. So encouraging.

I just used some mayo on the coleslaw. Sometimes I add a bit of homemade pickle juice to the mayo before mixing it into the coleslaw.

Low carb eating can be very helpful for digestive issues, but I also wonder if you have ever tried introducing some naturally fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchee, kefir, or my favourite, Kombucha into your regime?

Oh I used to love oat bran porridge!

I usually use half and half arrowroot and quinoa flour in small amounts, along with reducing liquid and blending in vegetables with my immersion blender, depending on what I am making. Add a bit of butter in at the end.

I am in Manitoba and buy Alpha's Supreme MCT oil. I like it and don't mind the price, it lasts me a long time.

Lol, they were good, just store bought though. They were the hothouse tomatoes though and the cucumber tasted very fresh.

Oh that egg salad in avocado looks good! Roast caribou from the night before, with some sliced veggies. This meat is very lean, so what you don't see in this picture, is that I slathered it in butter when I ate it hot out if the oven, but also when I eat it cold. I was gifted this meat that was hunted in Nunavut, Canada…

How about trying a lot more variety of healthy fats in various ways? Coconut milk and coconut oil, bacon fat, heavy whipping cream, avocado, nuts, cheese, fattier cuts of meat, etc. I use different fats for different dishes

My usual daily routine is 23:1. I have tried all sorts of combinations of fasts and have settled into eating once daily at supper. Sometimes this meal is a breakfast type of meal or a combo meal like a burger with bacon and egg. Eating this way is how I feel my best but it was a very gradual process. I am so satisfied with…

This doesn't look that pretty, but it was delicious. I was looking for something a bit filling after eating my beef stroganoff made from leftover steak and mushrooms, when I came up with this. Kale slaw which has kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower finely chopped, with s dressing I made with mayo and…

There is so much at play here and each individual's experience may be different. We all employ different kinds of coping strategies and some of us may be better at self care than others. I'm certainly no expert, and can't comment on scientific factors, but I do know what I have experienced. I used to suffer from…

I've used by hand held pampered chef julienne peeler for years and have loved it, so I don't know why I bought the spiralizer on sale for $14.95. I've cut my thumb quite badly while cleaning it. That'll teach me! Once I heal, I'm sure I'll love it.....

Meatball soup made with chicken bone broth, cabbage, onion and celery. The meatballs were half beef and half pork and were dropped into the broth like dumplings, so all the meat fat stays in the pot. I kept the tomatoes whole so that they could be left out of the bowl for lower carb eaters
