  • Thank you. You've done an amazing job! I'll certainly use it, especially for my kids. I try to encourage my kids to eat 2 servings of fruit and 5 servings of vegetables per day but it's hard to work out what that really means. Your chart is a great help.
  • I didn't lose any of the weight until my youngest started school. I breastfed 3 children (twins and another close behind). I didn't restrict my eating though I cut out alcohol and coffee. Before having children, I used to go to the gym 3 days a week but this was not an option after they arrived. We had no family support…
  • That was me until I had my third child at the age of 41. I think it has a lot to do with constantly fidgeting and zipping around. I think I gained weight after having kids because I literally had to slow down (since lost). I agree that the skinny/anorexic comments can be pretty hurtful.
  • I gained a lot of weight during both my pregnancies. The first pregnancy turned out to be twins. The second pregnancy it was excessive amniotic fluid (which meant the baby wouldn't ultimately engage - just happy swimming around in there ;) . The Dr didn't discover this issue until I was a week late. In other words, extra…
  • Congratulations! It took us 2 years to fall pregnant the first time too. Now we have 3. Only tips I have for you are these: 1. Watch your iron levels. I found it hard to eat meat while I was pregnant because I couldn't stand the smell. Started craving chick peas and tabouli. Eventually, the Dr put me on iron supplements.…
  • Here's mine. It goes up and down which is fine by me. I'm just trying to stay within a certain weight range.
  • I'm the same height as you and fluctuate between 122 and 125 lbs. I'm fairly active in that I run 5 km 3-4 days per week as well as doing weight-bearing exercises and an average of 16,000 steps a day. I'm on 1,510 calories and find that if I eat any of my exercise calories back I tend to gain a few pounds. Still…
  • I try to eat some healthy snacks such as carrot sticks and hommus and nuts but my sweet tooth always seems to win over and I have to slip in some dark chocolate. I also have full cream milk in my coffee. As long as it's balanced then it's fine ... though I think that extra chocolate cupcake I had this evening may have…
  • Thanks for the advice! I'll try adjusting the stride on my next treadmill run.
  • Thank for your help. I'll remove the run
  • My general practitioner told me it was better to exercise before eating breakfast because it sets your metabolism. She also recommended waiting 20 minutes after exercising.
  • I don't worry too much about going over the allowance for sugar. I went over by just having an orange and a banana even though this is the daily amount recommend by the Australian Heart Foundation. Just avoid too much processed food.
  • I've still got the belly but losing from arms and cleavage. I started out as an 'A' cup so not much cleavage to play with. Do they make inverted cups?
  • Hi, I'm from Sydney too in the eastern suburbs. I've nearly reached my goal weight but need to concentrate on fitness so I can keep up with my kids. Haven't been running in the past couple of weeks because of a) the flu and a bad cough, and b) this appalling weather. Might need some motivation to get back into it.
  • This is a comprehensive link for fruit and vegetable consumption issued by the Australian Government: https://www.eatforhealth.gov.au/food-essentials/five-food-groups/fruit It recommends 2 x fruit and 5 x vegetable servings per day. I try to incorporate this into my daily goals as I'm also aiming for healthy and hoping to…
  • So true about eating your kids' leftovers. I was taught not to waste food so I got into the habit of eating my kids' leftovers too. I also found that I've slowed down a lot and walk at a quarter of the pace I used to. Kids like to climb walls and stop to smell the flowers. While this has given me a great new perspective on…
  • It's not just people with learning disabilities or ESL who struggle with spelling and grammar. Back in the 70s, designers of the English curriculum decided that children could learn through immersion as opposed to being taught the rules of grammar specifically. It didn't work! Some people have a natural affinity for…
  • I'm 49 (50 this year) and had my twins (boy and girl) at 39 and then my third (girl) at 41. I was 55 kilos pre-pregnancy and went up to 68 kilos after my third. I started running about a year ago but didn't lose any weight and was just trying to keep fit. Then a few months ago my doctor told me that I needed to do…
  • 5'6" and 126 pounds with 25% body fat. I'm on 1440 calories per day but thinking of moving goal to "maintain" (1700-1800) as I've dropped 2 kilos since Friday :o . I've been sick for more than a week now with flu and a cough and have done minimal exercise. Feel I need the extra calories to help me get over this bug.
  • One large flat white for me every morning! I would sometimes spend an hour scouring neighbourhoods on public holidays in search of an open cafe :p . I now have my own Nespresso machine. I love my coffee and my full cream milk. I just make it fit into my daily allowance.
  • I could have an extra croissant or Cajun chicken kebab with the 215 more calories the TDEE gave me
  • To be honest, I didn't even consider a diet before seeing the doctor for a general checkup so it came as a bit of a shock to me also. I'm 62 kilos and 169 cm. This works out at a healthy BMI but waist measurement is 84 cm and doctor advised it needs to be under 80 cm. She got me to do an ultrasound to see if there was any…
  • Ditto with my 3 children. My girls are 6 and 9 and need encouragement to eat more as they're skinnier than most other children (10th percentile) and extremely active. Food is more of a chore for them than it is to me ;) .
  • I've never been on a diet before though have always been health conscious (keeping fit, eating healthy food and eating other food in moderation). Unfortunately, my family don't support me on this quest and make fun of me when I decline treat food (though not always). No way could I reveal the scale to them. My GP has…
  • Doctor's advice. I thought it was enough to be a healthy BMI and doing regular exercise. It came as a bit of a surprise when the doctor advised me to lose 2-3 kilos :o . Friends tell me I'm too skinny. The problem is around the belly though. It hasn't recovered after my last c-section.
  • Thanks for the advice. I hadn't thought about easing back into it but it makes sense. Kcrkcs, hope you get over the flu soon.
  • How about adding some nuts? Almonds are high in protein.
