I use turmeric as a spice - because it tastes good but not because I believe it will have any significant specific health effect. Certainly as a spice you can use it in a non-specific manner to replace salt/fat/sugar in order to improve your diet. There are a few critical articles you may wish to look at for a different…

Because... I just don't really find them tasty. :-( Is it really that important that I get protein before my workout - as long as I get sufficient protein and other necessary nutrients throughout the day? That said, this morning I ate a banana on peanut butter spread over whole-wheat crisp bread (two hours) before running…

That sounds like pretty solid advice. However I often feel pretty depleted by the end of the day and am looking for a little pick-me-up before I do strength training. On these days I do generally work out for more than an hour - I'm training for a marathon - so I might have already gone for a run of over an hour before I…

That's true. Bananas are great. I should try this, but it will involve more planning - there's nowhere close to my fitness studio where I can just grab a banana. I'll just have to shop ahead and hope the banana doesn't freeze in the car in cold weather or turn to mush in hot weather. ;-) Thanks for the idea.

I like the idea of chocolate milk. :-) A latte or similar sounds good too. That has a caffeine bonus. ;-) But what's wrong with sugar if I'm about to do a workout anyway? I think I need something easy to digest: chicken nuggets are high in protein but would just sit in my stomach. Thanks for the suggestions!

I really like my Vivosmart HR, but you might have to readjust your expectations. The heart rate monitor is not suited for high intensity or competitive sports. The distance estimates can be somewhat inaccurate as well. In particular, the stairs climbed is often way off for me. A number of months after purchasing the…

Before I got an activity tracker, I used a free phone app, RunKeeper, to log all my exercise. You can connect RunKeeper to MFP, so that all exercise logged in RunKeeper is automatically sent to MFP. I found that RunKeeper (especially for running and jogging) was much better at making realistic calorie estimates than the…

I will turn 50 later this year. At the beginning of last year, I was obese. I signed up on MyFitnessPal, tracked my calories rigorously, started exercising more consistently, and lost 100 pounds (45kg) over the course of the year. I did not try any special diet or combination of macros: I just concentrated on calories…

I have a move and I really like it. It is small, unobtrusive, and inexpensive. I usually attach it to my keyring, which I always have in my front pocket. The tracker still seems to count steps and distance pretty accurately when worn in this manner. When I bicycle, I leave it in the back pocket of my jersey (still attached…

How did you log your run in the UP app? If you don't explicitly tag the run, UP sometimes assumes that you were walking or something? I normally track my runs in Runkeeper, which I have set up to sync with the UP app. This seems to work pretty well - UP still adjusts my calories, and often deducts a small amount of…

Doesn't MFP do this anyway? For example, I just logged a 2 hour run, which Runkeeper recorded as 1106 calories. UP's estimated burn is 1309 calories for the same run (sent to UP from Runkeeper, while UP simultaneously recorded steps during the run). In MFP, I am getting a -180 calorie adjustment to my exercise from UP. MFP…

Hm... I've been experimenting with logging my exercise in different manners. Right now, I log most workouts in Runkeeper. This includes both step-based (walking, running) and non-step-based (biking, swimming) activities. Then I have Runkeeper configured to synchronise _both_ with MFP and UP. The end result seems plausible,…

Getting back to the discussion... I'd be pleased if you'd add me as a teammate. You can find me as Canoe Head with the same avatar as here on MFP.

Just to follow-up: resyncing appears to have made no difference. I followed the instructions, however my steps from early yesterday are still missing.
-
Has anyone tried resyncing the tracker data? (This is an option in the right menu for my Move. ) It is supposed to reset the phone library. You will need to pair your tracker again. The process is supposed to take about 10 minutes. I will try this later and report back.

My steps starting from about 90 minutes ago are now there. That's comforting at least. Perhaps things will be back to normal soon.

I'm having the exact same issue. My Move synchronises then the steps disappear. This started just today. It must be a problem with Jawbone's servers. Perhaps this will "fix itself" after a while.
