That is awesome!!! You are an inspiration! Congrats! Your hard work and dedication shows! :-)

It's going to take time. Just take small sips of your liquids throughout the day and know that every day will get better. I'm 8 weeks post-op so those first few weeks are still fresh in my mind. I was able to start taking my vitamins at 2 weeks post-op and that's when I started feeling much better...prior to that I was…

Oh - one more thing - be prepared for the horrible gas pain. The first two weeks in particular are rough. I think it's a combination of surgery gas and gas from protein shakes. Regardless it is painful. Mine was so bad one morning that it woke me up and I thought I had a blood clot in my lung. I was so scared! Turned out…

Oh yeah - use your pain pump!! Don't be a hero - enjoy that bad-boy while you can because the nasty liquid Tylenol with codeine you get when you go home is not only yucky, but not very effective (as compared to the good stuff you get at the hospital)! :-)

What do you wish you had taken to the hospital with you? I was happy to have my cell phone and iPad - that's all I needed. What should we plan on while in the hospital? You should plan on walking whenever possible, and being woken up by the nursing team whenever you fall asleep. Lol. Plan to be sore. Plan to have…

CONGRATS!!! :-)

Great news and best of luck to you!!

I was out 4 weeks and could not have gone back in 2 (which I planned on doing)...I had a lot of pain that kept me from even being able to walk. Short term medical leave gave me 4 weeks off, thank goodness. And no one at work knows I had the surgery (had it in February), not even my boss. Just told them I had to have…

They do get better. For me, once I started eating more foods and drinking less protein drinks it actually got a lot better. As did the gas. I'm "normal" now. I'm on soft foods and eat 3 times a day and I don't have any of the noises or pains or anything like I had early on.

Wow - I can't believe how quickly you all felt well enough to go back. I had horrible pain - in one spot in particular. It kept me from bending, twisting, wiping (TMI - sorry - lol), breathing deeply, walking, coughing, sneezing - everything! It was awful and I was so worried about going back to work. I was going back on a…

Totally had those feelings as well. And I was really disappointed when I did (do). I was told I wouldn't "feel" hungry again either - but that was not true. However, I've managed to work through them and now that I'm on real food (soft food stage), it's much better.

Drink lots of water and choose wisely with the exercise. If you are doing things that make your muscles sore after your workout (same day - or days after) then you will retain water to heal those muscles...so workout, but don't do heavy weight training or anything that tears your muscles and requires water weight to repair…

Best of luck to you!!

I think we were all nervous, for sure. It's completely normal. And even though I'm only 5 weeks out from having my gastric bypass, it has already made an enormous difference in my life and I'm glad I did it. And I'm more excited about my future than I have ever been!

Sodium and hormones - they get ya every time!!

I'm 5 weeks out from my gastric bypass. I eat about a half a cup or so, 3 times a day with one protein shake supplement. I don't always get in my 64 ounces of liquids, but I do get in at least 48 ounces. I have been finding it hard to drink plain water lately. My tummy does not like it. I usually get in a minimum of 60…

That is awesome!! Keep it up!

For that phase I ate a lot of ricotta cheese mixed with spaghetti sauce. It was quite tasty despite not sounding like it would be. But - by far the protein shakes are where the majority of my protein came from (and still does). There's just no way to get that much bang for you buck with the amount of food we can eat in a…

GREAT WORK! :-)

I had my RNY Gastric Bypass on 02/10/15 and the first two weeks I lost almost 15...and the following 2 weeks (weeks 3 & 4), I lost only 5 pounds. It's completely and totally normal. Trust me - I researched the heck out of it! Lol. We just gotta keep working and stay focused and rely on things other than the scale to remind…
