You pretty much have to read the label on every thing you buy. Everything. It surprised me how much sodium could be found in certain breakfast cereals. And then be prepared to read the labels of every brand of the same type of thing. Canned tomato products are a good example of this. The sodium counts vary widely between…

That is so frustrating. I don't know what the answer is, either.

Look up "spaghetti squash with white beans Provençal" and allrecipes.com. You won't be disappointed.

kforster, I think in your shoes I'd be tearing my hair out trying to keep in balance. Hats off to you for finding something you can make work under those circumstances.

This tomato and zucchini mélange http://allrecipes.com/recipe/18343/tomato-and-zucchini-melange/ Once the zucchini start getting tender, I put tilapia fillets in the skillet with the veggies, cover, and cook 5-10 minutes.

I hope you get as much enjoyment out of your whey protein shakes as I get out of three eggs scrambled in a ceramic bowl and cooked in the the microwave with a little salsa added.

I misread this - for a moment I was picturing stuffed peppers filled with mashed sweet potatoes, chicken, and cheese. Bet that wouldn't be half bad. Who wants to try it for us?

I like to peel them, chop into bite sized pieces, toss in homemade balsamic vinaigrette, and roast for thirty to fourty minutes. Also, chopped and boiled with rutabaga and carrots, then mashed.

I have been yelled at by teenagers and by what I assume were drunk guys (sitting in their front steps at 7am on a Saturday) - both while walking and while biking. If a car simply honks 1-2 times the driver may be attempting to be courteous and signalling that they are going to pass. Apparently there are places were the…

The evil stuff used at movie theaters was partially hydrogenated coconut oil, meaning that it had been chemically altered, to add hydrogen atoms and make it more oxydatively stable, increasing nit just shelf life but also the amount of trans fats which are linked to heart disease. The stuff people go on and on about the…

It might be a need for potassium which tastes kinda like salt. In fact sodium-free salt substitutes are made from potassium chloride in place of sodium chloride. Low sodium V-8 is very high in potassium because it has not only the potassium from the vegetables in it but also it has potassium chloride for flavoring.

I like the grilled chicken wraps at McDonalds, about the only thing they have I do like. I find them pretty satisfying as a meal, and a person could do worse, nutritionally.

Oooh, the ginger bread sounds good. I get a honey lemon ginseng green tea that I love to drink when I have a cold. It just makes me feel warm and cared for. Gotta be careful with the water temperature, boiling water burns green tea. Of course, I'm probably preaching to the choir here.

What if you had stooped after thoroughly enjoying one fried ravioli, one piece of pizza, and part of the loaded potato skin? I think that the key in your post is how those things did not taste good to you after a few bites but you kept eating them. Give yourself permission to not join the clean plate club when something is…

Wedge of Laughing Cow soft cheese plus mini sweet peppers and cherry tomatoes.

Ok, I have very little appetite first thing in the morning, but then if I don't have something then later I get wayyyy too hungry. So I have something small and plan a snack for midmorning to get me through until lunch (which is usually my big meal of the day). I really like those Belvita Breakfast Crackers, the ones that…

It's probably wayyyyyy too late, but I vote for the chicken taco salad. Use up those greens.

I like this recipe http://allrecipes.com/recipe/230816/garlic-mashed-cauliflower/ for garlic mashed cauliflower. For a high quality carby mash, one of my favorites is mashed rutabaga, carrot, and sweet potato.

My dad, wayyyyyyyy back when he was in the army, was stationed in Texas. He told a story of how one time when he and his buddies went to Mexico and went to a restaurant... One of the guys had never been to a Mexican restaurant before, guy went to the bathroom and that's when the server brought chips and salsa to their…

I like green and red leaf lettuces... When I lived alone I used to tear the leaves up by hand a d put them in a large ziplock bag, squeeze all the air out, and seal. Then I could cut up whatever mix-ins I wanted, as I wanted, to switch up my salads so I was not eating the same thing every day. I remember the lettuce would…

I find if I am consistently eating 1-2 servings of fruit and 8-10 servings of vegetables every day, when shark week comes, I have no cravings. The difference is startling, and in a weird way I miss having the cravings because nothing tastes like chocolate when you're craving it.

Let's see now. Club soda is fluid. Not all sugary? That's a plus. Not all full of caffeine? Definitely a plus. Now that sodium - depends how much and how sensitive your system is. It's what 75 mg. per cup? If you are drinking ten cups per day, that might get to be a bit much, particularly if you are already eating a lot of…

One of the reasons low sodium V8 is so rich in potassium is that in addition to the naturally occurring potassium in the vegetables it contains, it uses potassium chloride as a substitute for sodium chloride for flavor. When I lived in Arizona and was biking to work every day, I had a potassium deficiency. The doctor…

I know that when I eat enough fruits and vegetables, my cravings at that time of the month go wayyyyyyy down. Would it help to focus on getting all the nutrition you need rather than thinking about what you are truing to restrict yourself from? For me, enough fruits and vegetables means 1-2 servings of fresh fruit and 8-10…

I like to serve Sloppy Joes (homemade, ketchup, mustard, pinch of sweetener, garlic) over mashed cauliflower. That plus a cole slaw made with balsamic vinaigrette is a very tasty and very satisfying meal.

Oh, fantastic idea! The farmers' market here has people specializing in things like bread - my goodness, the woman mills her own whole grain flour so talk about fresh bread! - and sausage, and honey, but no one is putting meals together. And there is someone who does a bunch of different cookies, including at least four…

Use thin slices of eggplant to replace lasagne noodles and make lasagne in your usual way. Some recipes suggest roasting the slices of eggplant first but I am too lazy to do that. Tomato products really complement the flavor of eggplant.

My impression is that newly built Aldis are a bit bigger than the one I shopped at back in the 90s when I was in college. It may also depend on the space available and whether or not they are able to build it to specifications.

For me a good deal of the satiation factor with lower carb eating comes from ingesting a lot of non-starchy vegetables. Not only do they give a lot of bulk but also they provide a wealth of nutrients that fulfill the body's needs. Aim for two to three cups of cooked vegetables - whether you do things like mashed…
