I do 30DS workouts often. I think if anyone's having knee/back issues, they are doing the exercises improperly. Jillian is very careful to inform viewers regarding proper technique to avoid issues. I love the workouts and feel stronger. There are modifications to most of the moves. Start with push-ups on your knees, or…

You list what you eat, but are you weighing it on a food scale to ensure the most accurate calorie count? You said you don't want to do this and you don't want to do that, well, what ARE you willing to do? This takes work. Flat out, hard, effort-requiring WORK. And it takes patience, and more patience, and after that,…

I do it as part of my cross training regimen. I love it. I'm a big Jillian Michaels fan; I think she's real, down-to-earth, and motivating. The workouts really are just 20 minutes long, but she mixes up the routine so well that it'll go by fast. It's a great mix of cardio, strength, and abs. I definitely feel stronger from…

Fluctuations are NORMAL....very NORMAL. Don't weigh yourself as often. Judge your progress by how your clothes feel and how strong you are getting from your workouts. The scale just spits out a number, don't worship it. Oh, and it's doubly hard for a woman...even more fluctuations thanks to TOM, etc. Just keep on keepin…

"Reading "War and Peace" also has mental benefits, but I'm not logging the time I spent this weekend reading it. Just because an activity is valuable (or even healthful) doesn't automatically mean we should be logging it for the purposes of adding calories to our diet."[/quote] BOOM!

I ride dressage and never feel as though my heart rate gets elevated. It's great for leg strength and core stability, but I never log it as a workout. Think about it, who's sweating after the ride? Right, the horse. Riding is a lot of work, but nothing similar to a cardio or strength training session.

Carrots, celery, cucumbers, bell peppers...cut up and put in baggies, dip in a little ranch dressing for a satiating crunch and tasty snack.

My biggest temptations come from being at work, where people are always bringing in goodies and offering me food. I pack meals full of filling vegetables and protein. I snack on crunchy carrots, cucumbers, red bell peppers, etc. to avoid going for the cookies. The crunch is satisfying and the fiber fills me up. It's a…

Weight loss isn't linear. Read the sticky posts with this theme. Our bodies are always in a state of fluctuation. You may have eaten a higher sodium meal and there's water retention. DON'T weigh yourself every day. Step away from the scale. If anything, weigh every two weeks or monthly. Go by how your clothes feel. Weight…

Eat food, just eat less. I try to live by an 80/20 rule; 80% of my diet is nutrient, fiber, and protein dense foods while 20% is for treats, etc. Think of your calorie goal like a bank account. You have a certain amount to spend daily. If you go over that, you'll end up in debt (or in this case, with excess calories).…

I love it when people say, "oh I only eat clean and nothing processed, and I drink Shakeology!" Ummm, Shakeology is processed.

I appreciate all the suggestions. I think I'll try the cookie or pancake version.

I saw it on one of those "Tasty" or something videos that get plastered all over FB. I just thought I'd ask if anyone has done them. Sweet anything never turned me off!

I have a male friend who has the same issues. Fortunately for him, he's a nurse and he goes and gets some sort of nipple covers that are designed for nursing mothers. They work! You might look into something like that, but there's also tons of anti-chafing creams and of course, always Band-Aids. Some types of medical tape…

I love a good diet soda as a snack (my preference is for diet lemon-lime sodas). For me it's the perfect craving quencher.

Every day is a new day. Just start over, day after day. LOG EVERYTHING, including your cheats. Sometimes seeing the calorie numbers in front of your face is a wake-up call. Push yourself to log as accurately as possible until it becomes a daily habit. Just keep on keepin' on. We all fall off the wagon, often. What matters…

Gentle stretching, massage, drink water, and if you're really in pain, an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or naproxen sodium. It does get better the more consistent you are with your workouts/exercise regimen.

To answer this question, she has put out some random cries for help via social media. Now I fully understand that some people who do this are merely attention-seeking, and this may be the case, but I'm trying to present weight loss to her in a non-scary, non-you-have-to-give-up-everything manner. She is confused about all…

I agree, don't stress, and for heaven's sake don't read blog science or anything you find on FB or other social media that has to do with health/eating/diet. My general diet consists of about 80% what most would consider "healthy" (veggies, fruits, lean meats, oatmeal, yogurt, fiber, protein...) and 20% "treats." I get…

I like Jillian Michaels a lot. I think she's a good motivator without being really high on herself. I also really like the compound moves in 30DS. I agree with another poster regarding getting bored easily, so like her, I mix things up. I used 30DS as cross-training on my off-running days. Sometimes I'll do back-to-back…

What is your pre-run routine? I'd recommend doing some dynamic stretching exercises and save the static stretches for after your run/workout. Try this: prior to your run, do 30 seconds of arm crossing or windmills, 30 seconds of jumping jacks, 30 seconds of butt kicks, 30 seconds of high knees, and another 30 seconds of…

Thanks...and I agree! I like where this has gone. Lots of informative and well-thought posts. Thanks all!

I'll echo what others have said, but most of my dinners are roasted vegetables (any sort, laid out on a baking sheet, drizzled with EVOO and seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder - my fav!), and then I cook a chicken breast or fish filet on another oven rack. Sometimes I'll do some rice or quinoa with it. It's…

That's what's so great about tracking calories; it's so uncomplicated that you can just get right back on track the next day (or the next hour if you so choose). I hope you feel better; I've had a little cold too lately. Our temps here have been fluctuating by as much as 50 degrees in a day, so we're all a little run down.…

It is extreme, actually, considering that do-able weight loss/calorie restriction is about 0.5 - 1 lb. per week; so you're looking at maybe 6-8 pounds in that time frame. Most people who try to lose 2 lbs per week end up feeling so frustrated and hungry because it is too much of a calorie restriction. Why don't you just…

I've purchased a lot of the Beachbody workouts, and after becoming disillusioned with the Beachbody mentality ("You must spend lots of money to get healthy/fit"), I started searching for less expensive workouts. I went to WalMart and picked up the Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred for $10. I love the workouts, and that Jillian…

You don't have much to lose, so it's going to come off very slowly and with difficulty. That's just reality. I'm not sure why you're "desperate," will your vacation be canceled if you don't weigh a certain amount? How 'bout just enjoying the vacation and not get so caught up in how you look? Desperate is never a great…

I've done Reach the Beach twice. I absolutely LOVE Ragnars. It's crazy fun. The hardest part is getting the team together and getting everyone to contribute (and pay) regarding everything. It's truly a team effort. But once you're underway, it's simply magical. Whomever created Ragnars is a GENIUS!!! I've never done a…

Looks great!! I'll have to search for those too. Where do you buy them?

I like Nature's Harvest 100% whole wheat; 120 cal. in two slices. I have soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner about 3 times a week! I also love Arnold Sandwich Thins; currently I have the whole wheat & flax kind; 100 cal. per serving (two halves). I love bread and cannot/will not live without it!!!
