I too am on mess for mental illness. Because of the weight gain side effects my psychiatrist put me on welbutrin. That helps counteracts that.

Carbs such as pasta, bread and rice make me hungrier after I eat them so I avoid them. The worst food for me is Cheerios for some reason.

I'm like the guy above. I can't handle only having a little bit. I can't even begin to save enough calories to have some every day. So for now it's forbidden. I don't know what I will do on maintenance. I have a ways to go before I have to face the problem head on.

Several psych mess are well known to cause weight gain. Some slow metabolism which isn't really surprising given the fact that they are literally rebalancing a chemical imbalance of the brain.

My way of dealing with the motivation factor is to weigh myself daily and take my measurements when I feel myself slipping. I also just saw a photo of myself and was unhappy with the way I look.

My daughter in law is half Korean but grew up here. At her last visit her family focused on how fat she is. She has a 22 inch waist and wears a size 6. Go figure

Is it possible that your metabolism slowed down? Did you start a new medication?

I have the same problem. I took baby steps to get the problem under control. First I just kept track of everything I ate on the weekends. Then I analyzed it. Then I started making changes. I found it made sense to do those little things that made a big difference. Pick your calories carefully.

I used to stop eating because it was socially acceptable to keep on eating. I was hungry. I have found peanuts to be a good friend. For relatively few calories they fill me up and more importantly keep me full longer. Fat is the key for me.

I walk my rat terrier every day in the morning for an hour. I am sort of OCD about logging the walk before eating so I can see my calories increase for the day.

I have the same problem. I'be been following a low carb eating plan for 2 years. I have eliminated most starches and our mandatory dessert for the most part to stay at my calorie goal but allow myself a glass of wine. My biggest problem initially was the reaction of my friends to my new way of eating. I hope this helps.

I've been on it for 7 years. Dr prescribed it to counteract the weight gain side effects of other mess. I have gradually lost 50 lb but it was a cico approach. I think it's helped

I just went to a personal trainer and he did the math for me. I'm supposed to lose 17 lb of fat and- this is the interesting part- gain 5lb of muscle. The net effect, interestingly, is the same end number as the Dukan diet calculator.

I have a weekend place where I go every weekend. All we do there is eat and play cards. Dessert during cards. I have decided to stay on my diet during these weekend times but it is hard to resist what with all of the good things to eat and drink. People are getting uncomfortable with my new pattern.

I weigh myself daily in theorning after I pee. It keeps me focused.

You're right about maintaining being harder than losing. I got within 6 lb of my goal a few years ago and started gaining it back. I'm 9 lb up from my low. I just found mfp and am going to use it to finally reach my goal. Wish me luck.

I buy the Costco sized broccoli. I microwave a cereal bowl of broccoli for 1.45 minutes. Dump it in a pan sprayed with Pam. Scramble 2 eggs with the broccoli. Sprinkle with johnnys seasoning.Takes about 5 minutes.

Nonfat plain Greek yogurt with stevia and cinnamon. Add oat bran for regulation. Tastes like dessert. Cinnamon also stabilizes blood sugar.
