Keeping track of calories on paper
Does anyone remember the little book of calories that we used to lose weight before the internet existed? I remember doing the same thing as MFP but it was all by hand.

Meal Pre-Logging
After many years on and off this site, I finally zoomed in on the importance of high protein for my satiety. A few days ago I realized that I can better control my protein intake by purposefully pre-planning my meals. I’m embarrassed that it’s taken me so long to figure this out. Anyone else have this experience?

Decreased Calorie Allowance
Overnight I went from 1400 calories per day to lose 1 lb per week to only 1280 calories per day. I’ve only lost 10 lbs since September. Does this make sense to anyone?

History with weight loss
My weight loss started in 2nd grade, when I thought I was fat. Looking at photos from that time I know now that wasn’t true. It came from my mom’s body dysmorphia, when she thought she was fat (again, photos show that wasn’t true). As a 14 year old (5’5 at 120 lbs), I continued to think I was overweight because my mom told…

Fat Loss Tingling

GERD, Protein and weight loss
I’m having trouble hitting my protein goals because of my indigestion symptoms. I’m having indigestion especially with protein except for the Muscle Milk, but a diet of that long-term to get my 100 g of protein is not sustainable. Anyone else deal with this?

Reaching Protein Goals
At 1400 calories, I’m having trouble getting to 140 g of protein. High protein foods are either high calorie per gram of protein (take up too many calories for the protein or expensive. How do people reach these goals without exercising for extra calories? I’m trying Muscle Milk but it’s 300 calories for 50 g of protein.

Binge Eating Disorder (BED)
My psychotherapist friend sent me an article written by Amy Pershing in Psychotherapynetworker.org. Her point is that up to 75.% of cases involve childhood trauma, and that more than 60% of people with BED have been diagnosed with one or more co-occurring mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, ADD, and PTSD.…

Hunger Pangs
For my weight loss success, I had to take a good look at my perceptions of hunger pangs. When I analyzed it, I realized that (for me), the onset of hunger pangs isn’t physically painful. They’re uncomfortable, and my brain tries to avoid hunger at all costs. I spent my life trying to avoid even the mildest twang of that…

Food As Stress Reliever
About a decade ago, I retired from a very stressful job. I lost about 60 lbs over the course of that decade and kept it off. Yesterday I experienced two very stressful situations that are not resolved. This morning I started in on the peanut butter then moved to m&ms. At that point I started consciously checking in with…

Weight loss and knee replacement
Over the course of a decade, I lost 40 lbs from my all time high. I knew the extra weight was hard on my knees but didn’t realize the extent. I had my right knee replaced after losing the 40 lbs, then a month ago (after losing another 10 lbs) I had my left knee replaced. What a difference that 10 lbs makes in my recovery!…

How much does a new knee weigh?
I just had knee replacement surgery and I’ve gained about 3-4 lbs. I know that part of it is fluid retention but I was wondering whether the old joints weigh more or less than my new joint

I just went to a seminar about medication for mental illness and learned two very interesting things. The speaker was a pharmacist at a mental hospital and was very knowledgable.
