How much does a new knee weigh?

I just had knee replacement surgery and I’ve gained about 3-4 lbs. I know that part of it is fluid retention but I was wondering whether the old joints weigh more or less than my new joint

Surely this is a Google question.
I would call it inflammation for a few weeks. Also, 3-4 pounds is well within normal fluctuations.1 -
They’re metal and plastic so there may be a slight increase but not enough to add enough body weight to matter. Your extra weight is from inflammation and water retention.
You’ll love your new knee provided you do all the required PT.0 -
Ask your surgeon how much weight they took out and how much they put in, that's where the authoritative answer is. (Prediction: Surgeon will laugh. I asked mine a similar question about another body part, and mine did. It's OK. If you want to know, ask anyway.)
Serious advice: Don't worry about it. Right now, eat at maintenance calories with good nutrition, to give healing priority. Do that for 2-4 weeks at least, through the acute phase of healing. I didn't do that, and was sorry in retrospect that I didn't.
After that, watch the inflammation water weight settle down, and establish a new baseline weight and new trend line. That'll work fine. Trying to project a trend through something like this is very inexact, and IMO pretty unimportant.5 -
Thanks everyone for your responses. Good idea to eat at maintenance. I was required to drink 2 Boost protein drinks 5 days before and 5 days after so that was 300 calories per day. Can’t really walk long distances yet but looking forward getting back to that after I’ve healed.3

Even if it weighs a little more, I would recommend keeping this one instead of asking for the old one back.8

"They typically weigh between 15 and 20 ounces."

And
"Overall, the average weight gain as a result of knee arthroplasty was 345.54 g for men and 292.44 g for women. This translates to an insignificant increase in body weight."
