Fat cells

I saw on the Netflix program Connected that fat cells live 9-10 years. Can anyone confirm?

May I ask what the relevance of the fact was supposed to be? I would consider the lifespan of a fat cell to be not very relevant, as our bodies are replacing about 10% of them every year. Whether they die in 5 years, 10 years, or 20 years, you're going to be replacing them.

It's true, after which they are replaced by new ones, just like your other cells.4

If you want to lose weight and be healthy, not watching Netflix documentaries is a good idea. Sounds that time outside walking instead of the weather is nice.
The purpose of a documentary is to document and inform. The purpose of Netflix and YouTube is ultimately to make money. What that means is there's a strong incentive to be attention grabbing and not much incentive to actually be true. It isn't like driving a car where you have to prove you know what you're doing first, anybody can make a video about anything and call it a documentary. There are really good resources to learn how weight loss works in more detail, but documentaries aren't.11 -
Think of them as balloons. They can either be full or deflated. The number of them in your body is immaterial to your weight and total body fat.3
