GERD, Protein and weight loss

I’m having trouble hitting my protein goals because of my indigestion symptoms. I’m having indigestion especially with protein except for the Muscle Milk, but a diet of that long-term to get my 100 g of protein is not sustainable. Anyone else deal with this?

Yep. Protein-rich food, especially without build-in fat causes a flare up sometimes. Eating a chicken breast cooked dry or in lots of oil: bad. Eating less lean meat: ok. Protein with carbs can be problematic as well for me. Which sucks as I’d go vegetarian otherwise. Not that i eat a lot meat.

Following for suggestions. Though it doesn't impact me, my daughter deals with fairly severe GERD and has quite a few eating restrictions.

Also keep in mind that sometimes macro goals can be excessive depending on a persons ultimate goals, and stay away from the extremes. Meeting calorie goals is often the main driver for most people.

First of all, I want to make sure your protein goals aren't arbitrarily high, something we see all the time from people who get their protein goals from places other than registered dietitians:

    Here's a reputable protein calculator:

    https://examine.com/nutrition/protein-intake-calculator/

I shoot for 500 calories of exercise per day, and when I achieve that, using the MFP default of 20% protein aligns with the protein grams recommendation from Examine. If I were completely sedentary, I'd need to bump it up to 30%.

As to GERD, I was prescribed a PPI but take DGL instead:

    https://www.healthline.com/health/digestive-health/dgl-for-acid-reflux

Chewable DGL is most common, but it usually contains stevia or an artificial sweetener, which I can't tolerate, so I take capsules, one before breakfast and one before dinner.
