  • The majority of the time, when someone has either stayed the same or gained weight, it is because they are actually consuming more calories than they realize. All you need to lose weight is a calorie deficit. You don't need exercise. As long as you are eating less than you burn, you're good to go. From the looks of your…
  • I normally eat 3 meals with 2 snacks between lunch and dinner and before I go to bed. Before, I used to just eat HUGE portions whenever I thought I was hungry - I would just shovel down food and not realize when I was actually full. Since I eat smaller portions about 3-4 hours apart now, I've realized how I know if my body…
  • Well yesterday, I had a super filling meal that kept me full for pretty much the last half of my day. However, once it hit 11 pm, my cravings for sweets and salty snacks hit me so hard. It was a good thing my meal kept me full for so long because I had more calories to play with, so I had some chocolate and popcorn. When I…
  • Taking my time eating and actually savoring my food. Used to just stuff food in my mouth knowing it was delicious, but just ate too fast to ever really appreciate it.
  • It's okay to eat sweets as long as you're not constantly stuffing your face. Maybe try to eat more healthier things during the day as your priority but save some calories for all the snacks you want. I also agree that you can switch to diet sodas so you can have more calories for food (more junk food!).
  • From my personal experience, I agree with eating how you currently are but in smaller portions. That way you don't feel so restricted and can still enjoy your favorite foods. Eventually, you will want to try out other alternatives and find delicious snacks that are low in calorie which will help with your weight loss. Just…
  • Probably because that's what she wanted to hear. Trying not to make assumptions, but the only posts she answered were about her workouts and salads. It makes it seem like she didn't want to put in more effort (of buying a scale and actually weighing everything she eats, or doing this and that) and was content with the…
  • I went from drinking a can or two of Sprite every day to none at all. It's been 2 months now and I have not touched any soda at all. Maybe one day I'll treat myself when I go out to eat, but for now, I enjoy being soda-free (:
  • Weighing your food with a scale will be more precise. For example, let's say a serving size of something is 1tbsp (14g) = 80 calories. That means 14 grams of whatever that food is is 80 calories. If you just take a tablespoon and scoop up what you believe is a full tablespoon, and you actually weigh it and it turns out…
  • I gained about 20 pounds. I was a hermit all winter and ordered fast food and takeout 2-4 times a week. That was up until February when I decided to start losing weight.
  • I had a ton of pineapple slices. My tongue started reacting, but it was worth it :D
  • You could probably lose 3-5 lbs in the first week from just dropping water weight. If you are consistently honest with your logging as well as weighing and measuring everything you eat so you consume the amount of calories MFP tells you to consume while squeezing in some time to exercise, you could lose another 8-10 lbs at…
  • You will get used to feeling hungry. Before I started changing my diet, I used to always binge right before bed which resulted in me experiencing terrible heartburn. For the past 2 months, I've made sure I didn't go to bed until at least 3 hours after my last meal or snack and it definitely helped with the heartburn.…
  • Kind people are dangerous! :P
  • Hardest time for me is when people plan to go to Dunkin Donuts or the convenience store down the street during break. They always ask me if I need anything, and I always politely tell them no thank you. I've denied every offer they gave me to pick something up while they're at the store, that now they just buy me stuff...…
  • Looks like no one has had success with this injection. Plus, you shouldn't be asking about this in this kind of forum. Veterans on this site have lost their weight through a deficit ONLY (and some exercise) without all these crazy, pricey things and it's the most promising way to lose weight.
  • My weight wouldn't drop for about 4 or 5 days. While I knew I couldn't label it as a "plateau" yet, it was still discouraging. However, I just kept doing what I always do and yesterday, the weight started dropping again. Don't let it make you feel like a failure, you'll see instances like this during your weight loss…
  • In your food tab, if you click on settings, on the left near the bottom of the page, you'll see 'Meal Names:'. You can have up to 6 meals and name that whatever you want.

  • Oh my gosh, I'd never be able to get any work done because I'd be too busy laughing at how ridiculous I must look.
  • First off, you want positive feedback about fad diets (for the most part). Like people have already said, the majority of people on this site have lost weight by calorie deficit. Some have even gone through some of these fad diets which ended up not being successful, because let's face it, it's short term. I believe people…
  • These forums are for people who have or want to lose weight through calorie deficits. If you want to talk or get advice about all these fad diets, this is NOT the right forum to be....
  • I agree with what yigara said. If you have to eat out, check how many calories your meal has. If it's too much for one meal, maybe eat about half of it, and eat the other half later or save it for the next day.
  • I always keep a box of Fiber One 90-cal Fudge Brownies and Special K Sour Cream and Onion Cracker Chips (120 cal for 25 chips!) in my pantry. Whenever I get cravings, whether I'm PMSing or not, I grab a serving and it really helps. (:
  • What I like to do when I know where I will be eating out, is look at the menu in advance and select what I'd be interested in ordering. By looking up and knowing the nutrition facts of the dish, I can adjust my meals and maybe workout a little bit more for that day so I'd be able to eat what I want to order without going…
  • Nature's Own whole wheat bread with Teddie's all natural peanut butter and slices of banana (about 120 calories) (:
  • With you working out AND just quitting smoking, I know it's difficult to fight those cravings. However, you could try eating healthier, low-calorie snacks when you feel like you need to snack on something. I decided to stop eating red meat, but my mother makes beef or pork for dinner at least 4 nights a week because my dad…
