They actually named it after the book Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison which the movie Soylent Green is based on. The book didn't have a soylent as made from people but a super food made from soybeans and lentils hence "soy" + "lent" = "soylent". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Make_Room!_Make_Room!
