  • I've had vivid dreams most of my life (decreased over my unhealthiest stages) - they're not all night long (if they were, that would mean sleep not deep enough). I was actually on a low fat high carb diet in college, which was my "dreamiest" time...
  • Yes - my quality of sleep (less snoring and fewer nights of indulging in a "few" glasses of wine) has led me to deeper sleep and vivid dreams- I've been sleeping like the dead, and waking up feeling great! My dreams keep coming back to me throughout the day & are so clear that I have to think for a second whether it was a…
  • I'm all for waist/inseam sizing for women!!!
  • Agree with others- start cooking- rice and beans are awesome- just watch the portions- and add chicken! Eat veggies! Walk... Track your calories... You'll start feeling better almost immediately! Good luck and congrats on your upcoming marriage...
  • Me, too! With wine, please!
  • I dog-sat my mother-in-law's dog and thought it would be fun to walk her. Not all dogs are good walking partners! Breed and training play a part- she was a lazy little b#### - She slowed me down when she WAS walking, then decided to just lie down in the road - so, I got to not only carry a bag of her steaming, stinky…
  • Was going to say this... Yum! So refreshing!
  • Or, log it so you can track it, and just eat them or don't eat them (this is what I do) - it shows that I have calories left, but when I see how many I ate and what my exercise calories were, I know what's what. Another option is to log the exercise and manually enter the calories as 0.
  • My biggest clothes are so beat up by now, that I will likely just toss them… They are not even in good enough condition to donate. I've been refusing to buy new fat clothes for a long time, and wearing the same thing over and over and over! Fortunately, I've kept all my smaller clothes in bins in my garage, so I'll be able…
  • Me, too - 999=warning; 1000=ok. Goal set at 1200...
  • Sounds like you're off to a great start! It's important to be as consistent as possible, since you have a journey before you... So, eat what you like & exercise doing what you enjoy - being too restrictive can sap your will. Try to keep your choices mostly healthy, but plan in some treats- whether you enjoy chocolate or…
  • A lot of people eat a portion of their exercise calories (a portion instead of the whole amount to account for overestimated calorie burns). I personally don't unless I'm hungry (I'm also at 1200) - sometimes I save them for the weekend when I go out or have a couple glasses of wine...
  • Light yellow, when mixed with a gallon or two of water in the bowl, can look pretty clear... So, I'd think light yellow-to-clear is fine. Unless you're going in a glass, it's hard to tell- and if you have a non-white toilet, even harder!
  • I'm eating 1200 a day. I am satisfied and have plenty of energy. 1200, to stay well-nourished, is tricky- it doesn't leave much room for non-nutritive calories. I stick to it, make very healthy choices, and save up exercise calories for a couple of glasses of wine on the weekends. My TDEE is only 1800, so, to lose 1 lb a…
  • I think that's additional calories over maintenance level, not over what you were eating to lose...

  • Mmmmm- need to try that! That way, I can still have sour cream and guacamole, but 1/3 or so of what they pile on at the restaurant...
  • What's wrong with snacking? As long as you stay within your allowance...
  • Congrats on your new baby! In my opinion, if breastfeeding is really important to you, I'd take the next few weeks to just focus on your supply. Drink tons of water, eat plenty of varied, nutritious foods, sleep as much as your baby allows, feed him frequently, and look for breastfeeding support, either online, or LLL,…
  • Unless there's some medical reason to avoid it, go for it (if it fits into your calories for the day). I love steak and generally have it once a week. I personally stick with the leaner cuts (tenderloin or flank), but there's no real reason to do that if you prefer something else...

  • I've only gone once since counting calories and spread the salad over 2 meals... Portions are huge & calories to match! Salad was over 700 calories (whaaa? Ok - I did have cheese, sour cream, and guacamole...). Their site has a cool calorie calculator, based on what you get for toppings, etc. - helps with pre-planning.
  • Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Not to be a downer, but 50 lbs in 5 months is maybe a little bit of a reach... 30-35 is more doable, but will still require commitment and consistency. Keeping a comfortable calorie deficit, and being as active as time and body allow is the way to go! Even if you don't meet your…
  • Tried Paleo for a month, lost 8 lbs, was miserable, tired, brain-dead, and felt deprived. Tried counting calories for a month (now longer than that...), lost 8 lbs, was happy, energetic, and was free to choose my foods from all the groups. Some obviously think it's great; I think it's atrocious.
  • Make sure you're getting enough protein and fat to keep you content. If you already are, eat a little more- a small, healthy snack can go a long way (fruit or yogurt or cheese or hard boiled egg, etc.), and not seriously impact your overall intake. You have exercise calories- use some!
  • I'm eating 1200 and doing various exercises (walking, stationary bike, Zumba) 5-6 days a week, and some light weights & push-ups... I've lost 12lbs so far (~6 weeks), and have ~30-35 to go to get to a healthy weight. I'm rarely hungry- I make the most of my calories (plenty of protein, fat, and moderately low carbs). Feel…
  • I weigh myself every morning, but only log new lows in MFP- I track dailies separately on a calendar, but as another poster wrote, there are a lot of weight tracking apps out there... If I don't see a new low in a week, I know I need to look closely at what's going on with food, etc. - maybe "water" - maybe sloppy…
  • I don't feel resentment... The beauty of counting calories is that you can have whatever you want… Just not in unlimited quantities. It's your choice whether or not certain foods are worth it to you or not. I have found that I don't even crave "non-nutritive" calories anymore, because I was the one who decided that I…
  • Hot tea is great when it's cool/cold out; iced tea is better when it's hot out... Just drink it how you like it!
  • Greek yogurt & small portion of fruit
  • Hourglass has similar bust & hip measurements; pear is smaller bust and bigger hips...
  • You are young, so I think there's hope! Maybe they sag because they're heavy... Presumably, as you lose, they'll get smaller. As you lose, lift weights & do push-ups- strengthen the pectoral muscles- might help. And a good bra is a big-breasted lady's friend!
