  • I'm with FIT_Goat - beef jerky is my nice snack fix and I also make it myself. It's a lot cheaper than store bought too. I was in that boat when I started this, and just had to decide what I wanted - do I want to eat bread and have trouble with my weight, or deal with the loss of it and move on? After a few days I got over…
  • Kit, I do whole chickens too. Walmart had some massive sale on them last week and they were 99 cents...for a 2 pack of whole chickens. I don't have a dutch oven and none of my cast iron pans are deep enough, but I use the crockpot. Takes all the work out of it. Season like usual, put 1 cup of water in there with the whole…
  • I have that handy all the time. The 2nd time I started out lightly itchy (and was still on the prednisone and a shopping list of other drugs to include benedryl) and ended up using my epi pen because it progressed fast. So I had taken benedryl an hour prior, and got a high dose at the ER because their first dose wasn't…
  • I recently tried Stevia, because I already know I don't like Splenda or Sweet and Low. I find all 3 of those repulsive to be honest. So, with that being said, the only sweet I'm getting is if I decide and can fit in a piece of fruit. I'm really fond of granny smith apples. :)
  • Marvin and Melvin. That's what we named my mom's "tapeworms". She's one of those people who can eat and eat and not gain, so when she binges, I tell her she's feeding Marvin and Melvin. :) That's my only concern is that he'll have some issues with maintaining [a healthy] weight. He's not someone who enjoys eating, and it's…
  • Lithezebra - I would definitely recommend anyone to get ambulatory services rather than being driven - if time permits. I live on a military base, and we don't have the services on the part where I live - they come from, you guessed it, the military ER I go to! So, saves half the time to have hubby (who was an EMT before…
  • It's been over 2 years since the surgery, it's mostly muscle atrophy at this point. I had an ulnar nerve transposition - so basically my nerve was pinched (so bad I lost use of my left hand, and most unfortunately for that is that I am left handed) so they removed the "funny bone" nerve from it's place between the bones in…
  • Day 1: 30 seconds. Fully extended arms. I can't lean on my left elbow since I had surgery. I'm actually rather shocked it held me up at all.
  • You can do that with cheese and a pan to make personal pan pizzas without crust. You know when cheese falls over in the pan and gets all crispy when you're making grilled cheese? Same concept. I always liked the crispy cheese that fell in the pan lol. I might do those, as the reviews were mixed. My 4 and 9 year old gave it…
  • Cauliflower crust pizza. Excellent recipe and tastes good. Could have used a bit more pre-bake time as I would have liked a little more crisp, but it tasted good! http://www.eatagreatdeal.com/2015/01/the-best-cauliflower-crust-pizza.html?m=1
  • It may or may not be the case, but it was one thing I never thought to replace. Being in the wet environment of my bathroom can cause corrosion so it can't hurt to make sure they aren't getting "green" too.
  • mainly sodium (hence why sweat is salty). Try some chicken or beef broth. :)
  • With losing that much water weight you've probably dumped a load of electrolytes. I'd give some electrolytes a try and see if it subsides. Just like when you're out in the heat and sweat a lot you can get dizzy and pass out (lowers your blood pressure). Just an idea.
  • Well, if it's any consolation, congrats on being down 70 lbs! Here's a quick thought too, assuming you are using a digital scale. My digitals batteries wore out after awhile, and then it was totally lying to me by a LOT! 20+ lbs. I didn't even notice (just thought my God I gained more weight) until I went to the dr and as…
  • Tlflag - thanks for the insight. I did very much the same thing. He went to JRTC, I changed how I ate. I've lost more in the last week and a half than I did on the low fat diet hell in 3 months (I went back and checked my food logs and I am ashamed, even though I was under my calories, lol). There should be quite a shock…
  • Those sound amazing Jessica, I really love some sugar free Jello. I got it because I had a coupon, and figured I was going to be disgusted by it, as most "sugar free" stuff tastes pretty God awful. But, with a coupon and already being 70 cents a packet, I figured I could try it. Now my kids even like it! I just didn't tell…
  • ^ I wish I had that to look forward to. My mom and grandmother didn't hit menopause until their early 60's. For some reason, the idea that this bs will stop in 30 years is not comforting! Grandma said my great grandmother was the same way. I guess g-grandma went to the doctor (at around 62) because her period stopped. Her…
  • I like regular coconut oil fine, but the kind I bought most recently doesn't taste like coconut. Just an idea for those burned out on the flavor. I got it at Walmart for like $13. It's Betterbody Foods Organic Coconut Oil "naturally refined". It's a neutral flavor. The tub is 1.75L so it's a big tub.
  • Not topical, injected via IV. I could feel as it hit every single vein (from my right hand, up my arm, across the shoulder and into my chest). Liquid fire. It looked and felt like a penicillin shot!
  • I think so. All I know was it was white, thick, and burned like a SOB all the way across my chest before I was out. It was the suck.
  • I'm game. 173 is a 10 lb down goal for me.
  • I'm the same way, I feel "full" constantly. 1 cup of bulletproof coffee - full until 2-3 PM usually. This is good "stick to your ribs" food. I say, eat when you're hungry, and don't when you're not. One mistake I made was yesterday. I did too much on the liquid side and not enough substantial food. By dinner time I was…
  • Don't take this the wrong way (as in I'm hitting on you), but I can hardly believe you are the same person. I wouldn't be able to tell from your before photo, but you are very attractive at the weight you are at now.
  • Forgive me father, for I have scarfed. I think at one point or another, just about everyone has a moment of weakness. Chalk it up to a learning experience and drive on. Then next time you're tempted to binge, remember how binging made you feel, emotionally and physically (especially if it gave you a gut ache). :) Pre-plan…
  • I'm the smallest of my siblings, but my 2 brothers aren't tall either, one is 5 ft 5 and the other is 5 ft 7. Our dad is over 6 ft lol, even mom is taller than me. Genetics are weird like that. My 12 year old son is 1 inch shorter than me now. That being said, in munchkinland, the 5 ft 6 husband is king :)
  • My husband is very lean too. He eats nothing but junk, but is a whopping 140 lbs at 5 ft 6. That's about the best weight I've ever seen him at, he's been down to 125 at one point last year. It just makes my goal more motivating, I'm 3 inches shorter than him and dammit, I'm going to weigh less than him!
  • I just pre-warned my husband last night on the phone. His response "you kissed me while I still smoked so how can I complain if your breath is bad" - very valid point. Licking the back of my hand didn't make any noticeable offensive smell. I can totally taste it though and it's very "rotten bacteria" smell. I read on…
  • Mini goal - to fit into my ball gown a little better before February 19th, when I need to wear it, lol. I can get it on now, but it's just a bit too tight to be very flattering. I have a brand new one I've never worn with the tags still on it that is too loose now, so that's motivating!
  • One of the MFP entries for Almonds says 24 = 1 oz. I find that to be pretty accurate, today, 25 measured out to be 1 oz exactly.
  • Makes sense, since you can sweat zucchini with salt like you can tomatoes, onions, etc. I make tomatoes, onion, and pickle "relish" for subs and sweat it with salt then add olive oil. I put that in with hard salami and cheese and don't need any other veggies.
